Guinea pigs are the "G" in "G-Force", a specially trained team of guinea pigs who are trying to stop a diabolical scheme to destroy the world by bombarding it with space junk.
Apart from the title, no. G-Force: Guardians of Space was the second American version of the Japanese series Kagaku ninja tai Gatchaman, which had been previously dubbed as Battle of the Planets. In the meantime, Gatchaman, a live-action version of that franchise has been in development since 2010.
