Storyline

Onésime came down and threw himself on stage, starting into the great aria at which he excelled. We must say, in respect for the truth, that he earned what critics calls "the estimated success": Onésime, who has the voice of a barrel salesman, sings like the pulley in a well. Written by Anonymous

A bit weak.

In this Jean Durand film, Onésime (Ernest Bourbon) is once again cast as the comedic hero. I say once again because the team made a ton of them--some very good and some pretty poor. This one is just okay--nothing more.

Onésime is in love with a diva at the opera (Berthe Dagmar--the director's wife). However, she has him thrown out when he tries to visit her. So, he comes up with a stupid plan--have a group of criminals kidnap the tenor and replace him with himself! The problem is that Onésime sings horribly and the plan seems to be a total failure...or is it?

The film isn't all that funny. That's a problem considering it's supposed to be a comedy. However, it is reasonably pleasant viewing if you adore early silents. Otherwise, you may want to skip this one.
