Kiss the Pig
boblipton25 March 2011
Onesieme agrees to house sit some pets for his aunt, and after kissing the pigs and sharing some smokes with the horses, sets up her parlour as an animal hospital.

Jean Durand directs this rather mild yet amusing Onesieme comedy starring Ernest Bourbon that depends more on outrageous situations than the more usual extreme camera tricks that he applied to the series. Happily, Bourbon was a good physical comedian and Durand a fine director who knew how to compose a shot. However these rather simple little slapsticks were too short for much in the way of elaboration. They may do well enough because of their short length but won't attract many people to silent comedy.

Truly weird...but enjoyable.

"Onésime Loves Animals" is a very strange film from Jean Durand. His recurring character, Onésime (Ernest Bourbon) behaves VERY, VERY strangely in this one, that's for sure.

When Onésime's aunt and uncle go out of town, they ask him to watch the house as well as their pets. However, Onésime is an idiot and takes his job too seriously. You see he REALLY loves animals (not in a sick way--get your mind out of the gutter!) and not only watches the pets but befriends them. He even brings ALL their animals into the house--making it a very strange menagerie. This means LOTS of odd sight gags--including a cow in bed! None of it is especially deep but it IS funny--mostly because of the film's shock value. Not a great film but one you won't soon forget!
