5 July 2012 12:21 PM, PDT | | See recent Dread Central news »

Just a reminder for those of you headed out to Comic-Con next week looking to get a horror fix. The Hills Run Red director Dave Parker will be on hand along with some of the cast of his new film, Coldwater, as part of the “Virtual Drive-In Panel” on Thursday, July 12th.

Directed by Parker, Coldwater stars Ivan Djurovic ("24"), Rick Irwin (30 Minutes or Less), Sanny Van Heteren (Unknown) and James Duval (Donnie Darko). The flick is produced by Parker, Djurovic and Esther Goodstein and is co-produced by Jose Daniel Figueroa, Scott Lehr and Daniel Walker. It features music by Joseph Bishara (Insidious, The Gravedancers). Will Barratt (Hatchet, Hatchet II, Frozen, Chillerama) handles the director of photography duties.

First Look at Mike Mendez's Mega Spider in Action!

9 April 2012 1:21 PM, PDT | | See recent Dread Central news »

There are few movies we are looking forward to more around these parts than the latest creature feature from madman Mike Mendez (The Gravedancers) entitled Mega Spider. Need some reasons why? Check out these new stills and also a snippet video from Syfy's "Monster Man".

Battling the beast are Greg Grunberg ("Heroes", "Alias") and Lombardo Boyar ("The Bernie Mac Show"), who star as Alex, an exterminator, and Jose, his security guard sidekick, respectively. The unlikely heroes team up with an elite military unit that includes genre vets Clare Kramer (The Gravedancers) and Ray Wise (X-Men: First Class, "Twin Peaks").

Mendez explains what drew him to the project: "The script was hilarious, and as we got into the creature design and the casting, we had one objective in mind: fun! I love the tone of this movie and think audiences are going to have a wild time.”
