On tap right now is some beautiful artwork for Dread Central alum and fave Axelle Carolyn's latest film, Soulmate. This artwork comes courtesy of the uber-talented Graham Humphreys (who made the well-known UK posters for Nightmare on Elm Street and Evil Dead II). Dig it!
The supernatural thriller stars Anna Walton (Hellboy 2), Tom Wisdom (300), Nick Brimble (A Knight’s Tale), and Emma Cleasby (Dog Soldiers) and marks the feature debut of director Axelle Carolyn, who has acted in Neil Marshall’s Centurion and Doomsday. Carolyn also penned the script.
Soulmate follows a young woman who retreats to a remote cottage after a failed suicide attempt. She soon discovers the cottage is haunted by its previous owner but decides to remain, hoping to find comfort in the ghost.

The television world is opening its arms to John Constantine, the beloved DC comic book character who has graced the screen once (in a film with Keanu Reeves) and is getting his own series, appropriately entitled Constantine. David Goyer and Daniel Cerone penned the pilot which is being directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones). Matt Singer plays the eponymous supernatural investigator; he's joined by Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau and Charles Hafford.

Director: Elliot Goldner.
Running Time: 89 Minutes.
Synopsis: Three paranormal investigators for the Vatican must work together to work out if a rural English church was visited by God, or if it’s the ramblings of a desperate priest. Once onsite, they realise that things may not be quite what they seem.
British films have come a long way in the last couple of decades and thanks to the likes of Neil Marshall, we also have a steady trickle of horror coming out of our fair isle, with the latest being Elliot Goldner’s The Borderlands.
The Borderlands is an intense, found-footage based film that follows a deacon, a priest and a tech-specialist, who all work for the Vatican and are investigating another in a long line of potentially hoaxed miracles.
The premise has been covered countless times in films such as Red Lights, »

Earlier today we brought you a behind-the-scenes image from the Constantine TV pilot which gave us our first look at Matt Ryan (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) as the title character, and now we've got an official promo image of DC's supernatural detective, which you can see right here...
Constantine has been written by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) and Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist), with Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) directing a pilot that sees Ryan joined in the cast by Harold Perrineau (Lost), Lucy Griffiths (Winter's Tale) and Charles Halford (True Detective).

When it comes to so-called "guilty pleasures", one of mine is 2005's Constantine. I thought Keanu Reeves' wooden style of acting fit the character and I'm a fan of stories playing with religion and the idea of angels and demons, I think it makes for interesting cinema and I'm sort of a sucker for such films. I recognize Constantine has its flaws, but I thought a lot of the story, production design and even a fun performance from Gavin Rossdale as Balthazar worked for me. Now, NBC is taking the DC/Vertigo character to television with Matt Ryan ("Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior") as the lead character and just below is your first official look at Ryan in costume. In a press release producer David S. Goyer said of the upcoming series, "I've been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985... This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall »

As production begins on the new pilot Constantine - from executive producers Daniel Cerone & David S. Goyer and director Neil Marshall - NBC, Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment are today releasing the first official image of series star Matt Ryan in character as John Constantine.
Here's what executive producer David S. Goyer had to say about this new version of the popular character in a statement.
"I've been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985. This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics' covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat."
Constantine follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.
Here’s the first pic of DC Comics’ occult detective John Constantine (aka British actor Matt Ryan) as he appears in NBC’s new pilot Constantine - thankfully looking nothing like Keanu Reeves, but a hell of a lot more like his comic book counterpart.
Based on the Hellblazer and Constantine comics, the show comes from Daniel Cerone and Dark Knight/Man Of Steel writer David S Goyer. The pilot is being helmed by British director Neil Marshall (The Descent).

Great news today, kids. In fact, two pieces of great news, both about the NBC pilot Constantine. As I continually warn, when I report about pilots it’s always with the concern that hopes are being raised only to be dashed; that the pilot gets made but never picked up.
Well the two pieces of great news are one and the same: NBC, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Entertainment have released the first look at Matt Ryan as Constantine. The fact that they are publicly talking about the pilot gives me great hope that the series will be picked up, and that is great news. The other great news is the exceptionally cool pic:

NBC has released the first official imagine of the new star of "Constantine" and he looks precious little like Keanu Reeves. The latest adaptation of the popular DC Comics occult series features Matt Ryan, who you might know from "Layer Cake" and "Torchwood," but you don't know as the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons. Don't make that mistake! John Constantine first debuted as a supporting character in DC's "Swamp Thing" series in 1985 and went on to be the centerpiece of his own "Hellblazer" and "Constantine" lines. When he isn't being played by Reeves, the character is a former Liverpool con-man who now helps defend our world against supernatural beasties and whatnot. David S. Goyer is producing the new "Constantine" and cracked the story with Daniel Cerone ("Dexter"), who wrote the script. Neil Marshall ("Game of Thrones," "The Descent") is directing the pilot, a Warner Brothers TV production. "I’ve been »

This is our first official photo of Matt Ryan as John Constantine in the upcoming NBC series based on the DC/Vertigo character. I have to say the guy looks like an asshole so he should fit the character just fine. This series is supposed to follow the comic book more closely than the movie did, so that should give fans something to look forward to. Executive producer David S. Goyer had this to say in a statement,
"I've been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985. This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’'covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat."

That didn’t take long. We recently brought word that a pilot episode for a Constantine TV series was given the green light over at NBC, with Matt Ryan starring as John Constantine. The pilot is now filming and NBC has released the first official image of the new Constantine.
“John Constantine is described as a working-class Londoner with rakish good looks, scruffy blond hair, deadpan humor, and signature trench coat, who has been studying the dark arts since he was a teenager. When the daughter of a late friend is targeted by demons, Constantine steps in to save her.”
The pilot story comes from Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist), who worked on the script with David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies). The two will also serve as executive producers on the project. Neil Marshall (The Descent, Doomsday) is directing the pilot episode.

NBC has released your first look at star Matt Ryan (“Layer Cake”) from their upcoming “Constantine” TV show, based on the D.C. comic book “Hellblazer.” The character was previously portrayed by a very non-British Keanu Reeves in the movie of the same name directed by Francis Lawrence, but this time around they’re giving you an honest to goodness Brit in the role. Ryan will star as the titular demon hunter, one John Constantine, a man “struggling with his faith is haunted by the sins of his past but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.” The show co-stars Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau, and Charles Halford. Neil Marshall (of “The Descent” and “Doomsday” fame) is directing the pilot, with “Man of Steel” and “Batman Begins” guy David S. Goyer having adapted the show from the comic originally created by Daniel Cerone. »
Today we have two photos from the set of NBC's upcoming "Constantine" TV series, which is based on a DC Comics property. While shooting the pilot episode, the cast and crew snapped a few shots of themselves for Sarah Elizabeth Jones, who died last month while working as a camera assistant on the Greg Allman biopic "Midnight Rider." Check out the photos below, which give us a look at Matt Ryan (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) as the title character. The series also stars Lucy Griffiths as Liv, Harold Perrineau as the angel Manny and Charles Halford as Constantine's friend Chas. It's written by David Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) And directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent). "Constantine" centers on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con-man, who becomes a reluctant supernatural detective and is thrust into the role of defending the world against dark forces from beyond. Production crews from around the world have posted photos to Slates for Sarah, a Facebook page devoted to Sarah Jones, the camera assistant who died in an accident on set in February. It's a cool tribute to raise awareness about safety on film sets. Earlier today, the cast and crew of NBC's Constantine pilot uploaded a photo from the Atlanta set. The sweet gesture also gives us our first look at Matt Ryan in costume as Constantine, the "enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond." Tie, trench coat, messy hair: he looks the part. Neil Marshall (The Descent) is directing the pilot from a script by Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist). Cerone developed the story with David S. Goyer (Man of Steel). Check out two images after the jump. [Update: We've added an official promo image and press notes] Via Slates for Sarah: Here are press notes »

NBC's small screen adaptation of the comic series based on the Alan Moore-created character John Constantine finds its way in front of cameras next week, with the pilot episode being filmed. Perfect time to catch up with writer/producer David S. Goyer and talk about the show? You bet!
In an interview with I Am Rogue, which you can watch below, Goyer confirmed that the character of Constantine, played by Matt Ryan, will rock his trademark trench coat and skinny tie and that the show will remain very faithful to the source material.
Though he calls the 2005 film "interesting," he says that the television adaptation will be much truer to the comic books it's based on.
Goyer went on to say that if the show gets the chance to move forward past the pilot, other characters from the Constantine universe will pop up. "I think we would try to »

He's British, he's blonde, he'll have the signature trench coat and skinny tie, but whether Constantine in NBC's forthcoming TV pilot will be a chain-smoker is currently under negotiation with the network, according to executive producer David S Goyer.
I Am Rogue stole a few minutes to chat with Goyer, a man currently with more geek pies than fingers to stick in them, about the Constantine pilot, to be directed by The Descent and Game Of Thrones' Neil Marshall. The writer/director assured fans that the series, if it goes ahead, will stick more closely to the Hellblazer/Alan Moore creation than the Francis Lawrence-directed 2005 feature, a film he calls "interesting".

NBC is almost ready to start production of their new series Constantine, which is based on the popular comic book. According to the series writer and producer, David Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel), production on the series starts this week. He also stated that the adaptation is going to follow the comic book more than the movie did and reveals a few other cool things that fans will be happy to hear. While talking to I Am Rouge he said,
John Constantine is a notorious chain smoker, and when asked if he would partake in his old habits on the series, Goyer replied:
"That's a tricky one on network TV. We're negotiating right now. »
