File this one under “I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner”. From John Shepphird, the mastermind behind “Chupacabra Terror”, comes the timely genre outing “Jersey Shore Shark Attack”, a movie about, um, sharks that attack, er, the Jersey Shore. For star power, the filmmakers cast Tony Sirico, Paul Sorvino, Jack Scalia, Joey Fatone, and William Atherton, though the heavy lifting will be dumped on a cast of relative unknowns. We’ll get to them in a moment. But first, the official synopsis: Many years ago, hundreds of locals and tourists were massacred by giant man-eating sharks in the infamous 1916 Jersey Shore attacks. But that’s just a legend… or is it? It’s a holiday weekend on the Jersey Shore and, unbeknownst to anyone, underwater drills have attracted dozens of albino bull sharks to the pier. When a man goes missing, Tc (The Complication), Nookie and friends fear the...

Hey yo, so these friggin' sharks, right? They come swimmin' intah our wahtas like they own the place. They dunno who they're messin' whit, ya know. Tha's aight, though ... we got somethin' for them fishy mamalukes!
Yes, kids, Syfy is now in post-production on Jersey Shore Shark Attack, and we've got a mini look at the artwork along with the new plot crunch below.
Syfy cast Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts on "The Sopranos"), Paul Sorvino (Paul Cicero in Goodfellas), Jack Scalia ("Dallas"), Joey Fatone (‘N Sync), and William Atherton (Die Hard) in the film. Of course the cast wouldn’t be complete without some chum from MTV’s "Jersey Shore" — it also stars Vinny Guadagnino.
Sirico is Captain Sallie, the wise veteran of boardwalk life and lore. Scalia is Moretti, former guido beach bum and now police chief. Sorvino portrays the possibly corrupt mayor, and Atherton is the greedy developer Dolan,...

Chelan Simmons is playing closer to her own experience in her new series, but she knows some fans always will associate her with aliens and giant snakes.
The actress plays a dancer seeking her big break in "The L.A. Complex," made largely in her native Canada and getting its U.S. premiere Tuesday, April 24, on The CW. This week, though, she's acknowledging her fame among fantasy fans -- thanks to the former ABC Family show "Kyle Xy" and such Syfy movies as "Snakehead Terror" and "Chupacabra: Dark Seas" -- by appearing at a convention in Australia, along with her "Complex" co-star Jewel Staite ("Firefly," "Stargate Atlantis").
"Though I've been in horror movies, I just can't watch them," the spirited Simmons tells Zap2it. "The first time I watched a 'Harry Potter' movie, I had nightmares for, like, two weeks. I'm not good with sci-fi stuff. I'll be in it, as...

Penka Kouneva was born in Bulgaria, but she's been living in the United States since 1990. During this time, she estabilished herself as one of the most reliable orchestrators in the business. She worked extensively with Patrick Williams and now she's one of the regular orchestrators of Cliff Eidelman, Alfons Conde and Steve Jablonsky. Apart from orchestrating, Penka also started a film scoring career which currently includes titles like Chupacabra Terror, The Third Nail and most recently Midnight Movie.
What could you tell us about your musical education?
My mother was a professor of music theory and analysis at the Bulgarian Conservatory of music. I went to a High School of Music, then to the Bulgarian Conservatory (with a degree in Theory). In 1990, I received Mary Duke Biddle Fellowship for Master's degree in composition at Duke.
I got Masters and Doctorate at Duke University where my teacher Stephen Jaffe was exceptonally supportive and encouraging.
