Excellent Insightful Featurette For Mike Cahill’s ‘I Origins’

Mike Cahill is an interesting film-maker who continues to work on smaller projects but ones that strike a chord and make the viewer contemplate what you’re watching – it’s intelligent stuff but never inaccessible.

After the documentary Boxers And Ballerinas (2004), that was shot over two years and focused on the Us-Cuba conflict through the eyes of four young people, he then directed Another Earth in 2011. It was one of the first films I reviewed for Thn and opened up an interesting question of meeting another ‘you’ – and what would you do?

Cahill’s new film I Origins explores the relationship of the ‘eye’ in the evolution of our species. It tells the story of scientist Ian (Michael Pitt), who falls in love with Sofi (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey), and starts to discover something that science has never found before.
