Some Swimming Lessons Might Help, Too

A highly moralistic tale from Thanhouser, a first script from Philip Lonergan, who, like his brother would become a regular at the studio, this one-reel drama about a man who takes his revenge on his neighbor after his daughter drowns in a boating accident, doesn't really hold together well for the modern eye, but it does show off the strengths of this now-forgotten studio: good composition, and editing, very good acting -- Thanhouser's house stars were talented, and this stars Marion and Madeleine Snow, the 'Thanhouser Twins' -- and a liberal application of good outdoors scenery in the beautiful Westchester landscape of a hundred years ago. The story-telling is simplistic, but the other factors compensate.
