Poor man's Karate Kid about ping-pong

Warning: Spoilers
"The Tao of Pong" is an American English-language film from 2004, so this one will have its 15th anniversary two years from now. You may have come across writer and director Eli Craig on one of his more known horror comedies, but we will maybe talk about these on a later occasion. Here we basically have a mix of the Karate Kid film(s) and Wimbledon as a ping pong player goes back to playing the game again with the help of his Asian mentor. The latter is maybe the most known actor in here too. Oh yeah, the main antagonist is played by Gary Busey's son. That's it I guess. The story felt very rushed from start to finish (no surprise at slightly over 20 minutes) and just not right. Acting's not too great either. It's more of a fantasy film perhaps, also with the outcome at the end and with the covered-eyes playing scene, there was also some cringe to the film. I am not convinced. Not at all. It's quite a shame this was as weak, generic and predictable as ping pong films are really rare and it sucks especially that if there finally is one, then it turns out so forgettable. Watch something else instead.
