"The Second Death" is an Irish 11.5-minute live action short film from London-born writer and director John Michael McDonagh and yes he is indeed the brother of Oscar winner Martin McDonagh. This film here is his very first filmmaking credit and for a rookie work it is certainly pretty respectable as it is moving closer to its 20th anniversary. The cast includes quite a few pretty well-known actors too and I feel they are all doing a solid job. The rest is good too without ever reaching greatness territory, such as the metaphors, the music, the atmosphere, the ending etc. I would say that I preferred the scenes inside the pub early on over the scenes outside, but the ending really made up for it I must admit. This was a pretty decent watch that proves that talent runs in the McDonagh family and that Martin who is earning huge success with his Frances McDormand movie currently is not the only one in the family who seems to be capable of coming up with impressive films. This one here certainly gets a thumbs-up from me and I really recommenmd chevking it out. Go for it.

So much in so little time.

An incredibly emotional short film mostly about remorse, letting go of the past, and about forgiveness. Can anyone be defined by his past actions? Could you forgive someone if truly regretful, of anything done in the past?

The soundtrack was good, the cast very well chosen, especially Liam Cunningham, who's performance is just outstanding. I would like to add that as this film is about what I said before it's also about a lot more, with a lot of secondary characters adding something to the story.

Great short film, just perfect as it is, wouldn't change anything about it.
