MArilyn MAnson. How about La Liz Gein? Mansfield Hitler? Lamarr Dahmer? Popeye Aniston? Donald Duck Bundy?
Behind this, the stupidest rock pseudonym in recent years, and behind the tons of make-up hides a frightened child, one called Brian Hugh Warner. (Some say that this very ominous-sounding name is an anagram of "Satan".) Having spent all his childhood as an ignored nerd, little Brian vowed revenged on society; he would become the anti-Christ - or at least the next-best thing: an ugly rock star without any musical abilities. "All will tremble and shake upon the mere mention of my silly name!" Of course, in addition to healing his inferiority complex by reaching the lofty heights of rock-heaven (hell?) fame, he also got quite rich in the process. The reason for this is simple: millions of spoilt, lonely, zit-faced middle-class teens all over the world could not but take huge comfort in what MM (short for "Mamee") offered their desperate souls, with his imagery and ideology(?). Piggy-banks all over the world would never be full again. The music is almost irrelevant, as is so often the case with gimmicky shock-rockers. His image caught everyone's attention - God knows why. People must really be bored...
Honestly, enjoy this very dull concert footage from ol' Germany if you can. If your Ma-Ma makes you shake with ecstasy when he reveals his bloodied chest or when he merely mentions or hints at Satan between songs, then this DVD is for you. If MaMee's vocals do not strike you as atonal and awful, have fun with his vocal diarrhea. And if a pop version of industrial metal is what gets you all excited, then this will be the video to change your life! Then you too might be later inspired to one day put on "evil" contact lenses, paint your face a zombie white, and scream about Satan: it gets you quick fame and cash.
