"Coucou, les sous" (DVD)
21 July 2010 | by (PariS) – See all my reviews

Well, it's a pun in french that deplores the merchandising about this show. Actually, the package sells DVD n°3 which is this special show for its 10th birthday. But, a lot of the guests have nothing to do with "Coucou" and are just there to sell their products. That wasn't the content of the original show that you can discover but bits after bits. Sometimes you find again its special flavor because Dechavanne, Carmouze are their souls, but it's a pity that they didn't offer a better retrospective (or DVD).

After my scratch, now is my stroke. As the guy in the opening credits, when the show was broad-casted live in TV, I ran after the end of courses to watch it. But as our parents are disciplined like Germans, we took dinner at 19.30 thus I couldn't watch the end. I preferred it to "Nulle part ailleurs" shown at the same hour on a concurrent channel but it lasted only two seasons.

As Carmouze and Dechavanne (my number 1 still today!)are compassionate and passionate hosts, their show was very funny and interesting: it didn't resolve around the advertising celebrity. It offers costumes, scenery, sports, animals, crazy objects or artists, interactivity with people, and all this live. It was amazing, it was funny, it was discovery! Well now 20 years after, I still miss it and the pancake throw remains at this time the best moment on live television. It was the France that I liked and that's gone actually…
