Miller Passes U.K. Driving Test

11 July 2009 7:41 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Sienna Miller was so overcome with joy when she passed her driving test - she hugged her examiner.

According to British newspaper The Daily Mirror, the Factory Girl star completed a European test five months ago, but has just got round to completing the U.K. version this week (beg06Jul09).

The blonde beauty was snapped looking deep in concentration as she manoeuvred her car through West London, with her hard work paying off as she was awarded a pass by the examiner.

After hugging him, she leaped out of her car into the arms of her driving instructor, also giving him a squeeze with excitement.

A friend tells the paper, "Sienna had been so nervous before. She's an accomplished driver but was desperate to be able to drive here. She is thrilled to pieces to be on the road."

Sienna Miller: 'I'm an indie girl at heart'

27 June 2009 10:52 PM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Sienna Miller has said that she is an "indie girl at heart". The 27-year-old actress has admitted she was surprised when she accepted a role in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. With a resume that includes Factory Girl, Interview and The Edge of Love, Miller has said that she was taken aback by the idea that she could juggle independent and big-budgeted features. Miller told Total Film: "Well, I'd always intended to do the more artistic, independent projects that (more)

Miller's Grovelling Apology To Broadway Casting Directors

24 June 2009 6:36 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Sienna Miller had to apologise to the casting directors of her upcoming Broadway play After Miss Julie, because she congratulated her actor pal Jonny Lee Miller on his role before the announcement was made official.

The Factory Girl star will tread the boards of the New York City stage this September in an updated version of the Strindberg classic, and she was invited by casting boss Jim Carnahan to sit in on the auditioning process to find her a leading man.

Miller admits she hated scrutinising other actors' performances, telling Vogue magazine, "I wanted to be in Camp Actor, not Camp Decision!"

Once a decision was made, she wasted no time in contacting Lee Miller, who eventually landed the role - but she soon realised she'd broken the news too soon.

She adds, "He's the nicest guy. When I found out, I texted him thinking that he knew, but he obviously hadn't heard yet. It was very unsubtle."

Miller Agreed To Movie Flop To Escape Media Intrusion

24 June 2009 11:56 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

British actress Sienna Miller had no qualms about stripping off for her movie The Mysteries Of Pittsburgh - because she would have done anything to keep her away from home following her high-profile split from Jude Law.

The Factory Girl star broke off her engagement to Law in November 2005 after he was caught having an affair with his children's nanny.

The scandal became tabloid fodder in their native U.K., and Miller admits she threw herself into her work in a bid to escape the media intrusion.

She agreed to star in The Mysteries of Pittsburgh in 2006 - even though it meant shedding her clothes for the part - but insists she will no longer consider roles requiring nudity, because she's moved on.

She tells Vogue magazine, "I don't think I feel comfortable getting naked now. I can see where I made the decision to make that film three years ago, but then you grow up and evolve and your tastes change.

"I was in this period where I was making movies back-to-back because I didn't want to be at home. Anything to not be in London. I was running away."

The movie was released in 2008 but was savaged by critics and film fans alike.

Vanity Fair's Hollywood ~ Episode 11 (2005)

26 May 2009 2:21 PM, PDT | From FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news

Missed previous episodes? See: 1995 , 1996, 1997, 1998 , 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Vanity Fair briefly killed my enthusiasm for the "Hollywood project" when they nixed the traditional cover for 2009. But time heals most wounds and I have reanimated the project's corpse. 2004's cover had 13 already peaking actresses on it. How'd they follow it in 2005? With another batch of goddesses, 60% of whom had already graced their "Hollywood" cover. In the case of the C/Kates, it was now thrice. Was Vanity Fair running out of ideas? Given the idiosyncratic pool the covers regularly pulled from you'd think there were only 40 actresses in Hollywood... but then, it's probably all in who you know who represents you when it comes to face time here. It's definitely not only about the fame. Consider this: this cover series lasted from 1995 - 2008 and Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Michelle Williams and Tilda Swinton never appeared on them (just four chronologically appropriate examples off the

Miller Uncovered Warhol's Art Secret

24 May 2009 6:30 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Sienna Miller is convinced she uncovered one of Andy Warhol's secrets after chatting to the late art legend's mum.

Miller studied Warhol for her role as his muse Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl - and an interview with his mum helped her understand one of his most famous pop art creations.

She tells WENN, "She used to feed him baked beans and, in every cupboard, there were rows and rows of beans. I think that inspired him. He got inspiration from a lot of the mundane."

Shamim Sarif wants Sienna Miller

20 May 2009 1:00 PM, PDT | From AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news

The Telegraph is reporting that Sienna Miller may star in out writer/director Shamim Sarif's new film, Dreaming Spires. Sarif told the paper that she "would love" the blonde British actress to play the lead role in the movie, which is based on one of Sarif's short story and is set to start filming next year.

"We need an English rose type," Sarif said. "I would love if Sienna could play the role of the professor. That would be fantasic."

The role is admittedly a pretty good one: A professor at Oxford University who is blinded in World War II. The Telegraph makes note that Miller is "being handed an unlikely opportunity to prove her credentials" by the possibility of playing such a part, which will be a far cry from the glammed-out role as Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl and Dylan Thomas' wife in The Edge of Love.

Kevin Spacey to Play George Hickenlooper's Casino Jack

13 May 2009 11:34 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

Kevin Spacey is set to return to true story-based films as he takes on the role of Jack Abramoff in Casino Jack. Abramoff, a name you've most certainly heard around the news circuit (or, more likely, on The Daily Show), is the disgraced Washington power broker and notorious con man who is currently serving a prison sentence. His life is to be the focus of the Norman Snider-scripted film. More specifically, Abramoff's bribery schemes and fraudulent affairs with Native American casinos that landed him in prison will provide the meat of the film. Dogtown and Factory Girl director George Hickenlooper will be directing this. I'm not quite sure how intriguing this project really is. I'm also unsettled by Spacey's co-star - Hayden Christensen. This film may act as a sort of catharsis for us American tax payers, allowing us to vicariously take down an abuser of the broken system,

Kevin Spacey to Portray Jack Abramoff in Casino Jack

13 May 2009 7:30 AM, PDT | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news

It's been a while since Kevin Spacey has had a notable leading role but, oh boy, does he have one now. Variety confirmed that Spacey will star as the notorious Jack Abramoff in Casino Jack, due for release next year.

In 2006, Abramoff and several colleagues were indicted, tried, and convicted of defrauding American-Indian casinos out of many millions of dollars. Hayden Christensen, Christian Campbell, Spencer Garrett, and Jeffrey R. Smith will star as several of those colleagues.

Casino Jack will be directed by George Hickenlooper, who also helmed the Warhol-era indie Factory Girl. The screenplay is by Norman Snider, who also co-wrote the script for David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers.

The Real Bob Dylan

    "Qui êtes-vous, Monsieur Bob Dylan?"

       --Jean-Pierre Léaud, in "Masculin, féminine"

Who are you, Mr. Bob Dylan? Less than two years ago, Dylanologists had a field day with "I'm Not There," Todd Haynes' smarty-pants hallucination evoking the freewheelin' singer-songwriter's iconic persona, unknowable as he perpetually reinvents himself. But rock 'n' roll's poet laureate already had a history with film, both appearing onscreen and being portrayed by other actors. In honor of Dylan's tough-bird, rollicking new record "Together Through Life," I'm bringing it all back home with a re-evaluation of who fares better on film: Dylan himself, or his imposters?

Dylan as himself, "Dont Look Back" (1967) vs. Cate Blanchett as Jude, "I'm Not There" (2007)

Nobody could resist this most obvious of aesthetic match-ups, a battle between the two most sophisticated, evocative,

Kevin Spacey To Play Abramoff

12 May 2009 11:52 PM, PDT | From EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news

Kevin Spacey has signed on to play disgraced Us political lobbyist Jack Abramoff in Casino Jack, based on the true story of a man who went from hanging at the White House to chilling in the Big House. For those of us on this side of the Atlantic who have (at most) the vaguest idea who Abramoff is, he was a hugely successful Washington lobbyist who was convicted in 2006 on corruption, briberty and fraud in his dealing with several Indian casino groups, who he was said to have defrauded of tens of millions of dollars. He was also connected to the Bush administration, with some of its officials caught up in his trial. The film, originally called Bagman, is set to be directed by George Hickenlooper, who previously directed Factory Girl and Dogtown. It's based on a screenplay by Norman Snider (Dead Ringers). The film shoots in Toronto this month

Spacey for 'Casino Jack'

12 May 2009 9:20 PM, PDT | From CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news

Kevin Spacey has signed up to star as Jack Abramoff, the disgraced Washington power broker, in Casino Jack. The project will be helmed by director George Hickenlooper, with a script from writer Norman Snider.

Spacey will take the lead as a formerly high-powered lobbyist who eventually wound up in prison over his indulgence in bribery schemes and fraudulent dealings with Native American casinos.

Abramoff was accused of defrauding indigenous peoples' tribes out of $25M for lobbying activities.

Hickenlooper was actually a co-director on the legendary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse, the documentary about the making of Apocalypse Now. He also directed the excellent Mayor of the Sunset Strip, about Rodney Bingenheimer, and the passable Edie Sedgwick bio Factory Girl.

Snider’s most notable credit is as a co-writer, alongside David Cronenberg, of Dead Ringers.

This sounds like an interesting project for Spacey. He does well playing the smarmy,
