Insidious: Chapter 4 Caps Off Casting Spree With Four New Additions

30 August 2016 3:08 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Deadline brings word today that Kirk Acevedo (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Bruce Davison (The Lords of Salem), Spencer Locke (Resident Evil: Extinction), and Caitlin Gerard have become the last-minute casting additions to Universal and Blumhouse’s horror sequel, Insidious: Chapter 4.

Character details for that new quartet are being kept firmly under lock and key and safely stowed away in The Further for now, but we know that Chapter 4 is booked in to arrive on October 20 of 2017. It’ll be helmed by director Adam Robitel – a newcomer to Blumhouse’s low-budget, high-profit series – with a script from franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell.

Throughout the history of Insidious, Whannell has been a true cornerstone of the series since its inception, penning scripts for all four installments and generally ensuring those Blumhouse pictures scored well across financial and critical circles. Indeed, after taking the reins on the previous three Insidious films, »

Paul W.S. Anderson is bringing his Resident Evil saga to an end after six movies with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, set for release in January 2017. Yesterday we were treated to the Japanese trailer, a new poster and the full domestic teaser trailer – but what did our writing staff make of it?

Anghus Houvouras: Has there ever been a franchise as consistently terrible as Resident Evil? Paranormal Activity? Paul Blart: Mall Cop? Underworld? Police Academy (after the first two)? No sir, for my money Resident Evil is the king of the garbage heap, and this one looks just as smelly as the rest. To be fair, I’ve had some amusing moments while watching these thinly plotted, »

After 15 years, six films and $915 million in worldwide ticket sales, the “Resident Evil” film franchise is coming to an end.

In it, Jovovich’s heroine, Alice, returns to Raccoon City to confront the evil Umbrella Corp. — the company responsible for unleashing the virus that turned the human population into flesh-craving zombies. As with the other films in the action-horror franchise, “The Final Chapter” includes lots of stylized and gory action scenes, under the direction of Paul W.S. Anderson, who helmed three previous “Resident Evil” films.

The novice monk goes on to develop a romantic relationship with a local village girl, leading to ghostly occurrences and strange happenings. The film features several scenes of gambling, drinking, violence – all the bells and whistles. However, its reference to Buddhism was deemed insulting »
