Three courses: laughter, nervous laughter and squeamishness - yum!

"Smart people can teach us so much" - Candy

Candy is an outsider that's lucky enough to attend a family celebration where the main course is family dysfunction. The Hamster Cage does a great job of using that family's dysfunction to create separate courses of out right laughter, nervous laughter, squeamishness, and taboo.

The most impressive characteristic of the show is it deals with serious issues and could easily have gone overboard in some areas but holds back allowing the story and characters to keep the focus over potential shock value.

There are some great one liners in this show which also saw good performances come out through great characters.

Definitely worth a watch.

This was disgustingly funny!

Director Larry Kent explores how far you can go with comedy. We meet are deeply troubled family with sick sick problems like incest and pedophilia and all this, is mixed with comedy. Bizarre scenes are followed by many more bizarre scenes, and Kent has in my opinion successfully made deeply tragic and disturbing issues funny which I think was the whole idea behind the movie. To explore how far you can take it. It's sick but funny and original. The acting isn't really the big factor in this film but they all played there part good. It was especially interesting to see Carly Pope who many will know from the teen show Popular who gives it has a totally hot but sick Lolita type named Candy who thinks wise and old men can teach everybody so much and she is sure she can become a genius if she spends time with them. Surprising to see her play this character. But she only plays a small part so don't just see it for her. Thumbs up - but certainly not for everybody!
