Wanderlust Poster Arrives

30 December 2011 2:28 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Coming from David Wain the director of Role Models, here is the new poster for Wanderlust. The comedy stars the always likeable Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston as George and Linda, who decide to live an alternative lifestyle on a rural commune after losing their jobs in the recession. For me, Role Models while having a few decent laughs, never really hit the laughter highs of Rudd’s roles in the likes of I Love You Man, Knocked Up or Our Idiot Brother. So hopefully director Wain and star Rudd’s re-teaming will hit the funny bone more frequent than their previous film promised.

The movie co-stars Malin Akerman, Kathryn Hahn, Ray Liotta, Justin Theroux, Lauren Ambrose and the great Alan Alda. Wanderlust is released in the UK 2nd March 2012.

Forecast: 'New Year's Eve' Arrives Early

8 December 2011 5:25 PM, PST | Box Office Mojo | See recent BoxOfficeMojo.com news »

With two major wide releases hitting theaters this weekend, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1's three-week reign a top the box office charts will finally come to an end. Opening at 3,505 theaters, ensemble romantic comedy New Year's Eve will almost certainly claim first place, while Jonah Hill's solo debut The Sitter should wind up a distant second. While it's not explicitly mentioned this way in any of the promotional material, New Year's Eve is essentially a follow-up to last year's Valentine's Day: both are ensemble movies that take place on a specific, very romantic holiday, and both are directed by Garry Marshall. Valentine's Day debuted to a massive $56.3 million over Valentine's Day weekend in 2010, though it quickly fizzled out after the holiday and wound up with $110.5 million. Hitting theaters over three weeks ahead of its titular holiday, New Year's Eve will almost certainly open lower but hang on »

The top 25 must-see movies of 2012

8 December 2011 2:25 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Next year’s full to bursting with exciting movies, so to help out a little, here’s our pick of 25 must-see movies out in 2012…

As 2011 draws to a close, one eye is inevitably on the treats that are lying ahead for 2012. With that in mind, we've got our line-up of, as things stands, the 25 films that are brightest on our radar.

Now, a couple of disclaimers.

There are films that haven't made the cut here simply because we don't know a fat lot about them yet, or at least not enough to get us fired up. Jack The Giant Killer, Rise Of The Guardians, Red Tails, Chronicle and Dark Shadows all fit into that category.

Plus there are the films that we suspect will turn out strongly, but what we've seen of them so far hasn't blown us away (Brave, Skyfall). Then there are the potential hidden gems (ParaNorman) we'll »

International Trailer for This Means War Starring Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, and Tom Hardy

6 December 2011 7:15 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Do you find yourself constantly at odds with your significant other when it comes to date night at the movies because she wants to see a romantic comedy, but you're itching for action (or vice versa)? Well, the latest movie from McG (Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation), This Means War, aims to be the one movie that you can both agree upon.

Written by Tim Dowling (Role Models) and Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes), This Means War stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Tom Hardy (upcoming The Dark Knight Rises) as lifelong best friends who turn their deadly skills as spies for the CIA against each other when they both fall for the same woman (Reese Witherspoon). The first trailer has been playing in theaters since early October, but now a new international trailer has been released that's racier than the American version, amping up both the violence and the sex.

'Wainy Days' returns: David Wain on today's season premiere and what he has in common with Jennifer Lopez

5 December 2011 4:01 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The entertainment world is finally catching up to David Wain. The co-creator of television’s The State and Stella helped introduce a fresh new comic sensibility — as well as the likes of Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, and Elizabeth Banks — in Wet Hot American Summer, a certifiable cult classic. With Role Models, he proved he could direct a mainstream hit movie, and he just completed work on Wanderlust, the Jennifer Aniston comedy that comes out in February.

But even as bigger and more expensive Hollywood projects come his way, Wain remains dedicated to his smaller, quirkier projects. Last week, he began »

Trailer Tracking: ‘Wanderlust,’ ‘Safe House,’ ‘This Means War,’ More

8 November 2011 8:16 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Now that we’re so close to the holiday season, it means that the whole movie trailer landscape has changed yet again. We’ve spent the last three months watching the previews for the Christmas season blockbusters and the end-of-the-year Oscar hopefuls nonstop. Now that their pre-release marketing window is shrinking to a close, we’re getting hit with all of the “fun” trailers from the first two months of 2012, the trailers that are supposed to inspire us to shake ourselves out of our post-New Year’s doldrums and get our asses to the multiplex.

So far, from what we’ve seen, it’s a mixed bag. There’s a lot of potential for greatness, for sure, but each of this week’s four new trailers have an equal potential to be epic train wrecks. As always, we hope for the best (yay, a new comedy from the creators »

Here's what I like about the "Goon" trailer

7 November 2011 3:51 PM, PST | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

It's been over thirty years since "Slap Shot" proved that the world of minor league hockey was an ideal setting for gut-level, blue-collar comedy. "Slap Shot"'s one of the best sports movies of all time, and simultaneously one of the funniest and saddest. That's a tough act to follow, but again, it's been thirty years since Paul Newman laced up his skates for the Charlestown Chiefs; more than enough time passed to dive back into the place on film (There are rumors on the Internet that there was a "Slap Shot" sequel in 2002 but I don't buy it. It's probably fake like those pictures of that half-human/half-dog creature).

Maybe that's what Jay Baruchel ("Undeclared," "The Sorcerer's Apprentice") had in mind when he and Evan Goldberg ("Superbad," "Pineapple Express") teamed up to write the comedy "Goon," about a listless bouncer (Seann William Scott) who finds his calling as an »

Watch Paul Rudd And Jennifer Aniston In 'Wanderlust' Trailer

2012 at the movies just wouldn't feel right without two comedy staples: Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston being in some sort of film with a gimmick. If you look at film history, some of the best comedies have the silliest concepts. If they can find that magic combination of runtime and gags, the possibilities are endless. Wanderlust Trailer Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston

4 November 2011 11:07 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Looks like Paul Rudd is going from playing a hippie in Our Idiot Brother to hanging out with a whole commune of them in David Wain's Wanderlust. He's back to playing the straight man this time as a New Yorker who is down on his luck and loses his job, forcing him and his wife to move in with his brother in Atlanta. After being frustrated with their new lifestyle, they decide to throw it all away and go off the grid at Elysium, a wacky outdoor community filled with all kinds of colourful characters. David Wain and co-writer Ken Marino previously teamed with Paul Rudd on the surprisingly hilarious Role Models and the cult classic Wet Hot American Summer. Adding Jennifer Aniston to the mix will certainly give this a lot more mainstream appeal, but will it be as funny? The fact that it was delayed to February could be a bad sign, »
