Vin Diesel Developing Boxing Drama Crushers Club For NBC

The Fast and the Furious star is teaming with Mudbound writer Virgil Williams for a boxing drama over at NBC.

THR reports that the drama, titled Crushers Club will be an hourlong show about a struggling boxing gym, which also serves as a second home for kids in one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods.

Williams will write the script and executive produce with Diesel through his One Race Television banner. Williams previously worked for six seasons as a writer-producer on Criminal Minds. He is also the co-writer on the upcoming Netflix film Mudbound, which many expect to be an awards season contender.

Crushers Club is one of three projects on One Race TV's slate this season, the others being a reboot of Miami Vice, also at NBC, and a reboot of Get Christie Love at ABC.

Lumière Festival: Michael Mann, Guillermo del Toro talk Michael Mann

Lumière Festival: Michael Mann, Guillermo del Toro talk Michael Mann
Lyon, France — Director Michael Mann, a guest of the Lumière Festival, discussed his decades-long career and creative process on Sunday before introducing a restored version of “Heat” never seen before in France.

Speaking with Institut Lumière director Thierry Frémaux and fellow filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, Mann said he saw himself as an auteur, adding: “It’s not about self reflection, it’s about responsibility. Everything, good or bad, the creative choices, whether it’s an actor, the folds in the curtains, the fashion, the music, the cut, it’s all my fault, my responsibility. And that’s what’s always so exciting to me about cinema.”

Turning the discussion to the characters in Mann’s works, del Toro pointed out that his films, whether “Heat” or “The Last of the Mohicans,” often dealt with men struggling as relics in their own time as history leaves them behind. “And they seem to be holding a very intimate set of

Gong’s credits date back to Zhang Yimou’s directorial debut, “Red Sorghum,” which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 1988. Since then, she’s appeared

WWE’s New ‘Twin Peaks’ Parody Is Even Funnier and More Allusive Than the First — Watch
The return of “Twin Peaks” hasn’t been quite the cultural phenomenon that the original series was, but people are still watching — and parodying — David Lynch’s avant-garde whatsit masquerading as a TV show. The newest example comes from WWE, who once again spoofed “Twin Peaks” on “SmackDown Live.”

The segment is the latest involving the tag team of Tyler Breeze and Fandango, who play literal fashion police and have previously spoofed “Miami Vice” and film-noir detective dramas. Their current case: the assault and abduction of Fandango, who in a previous vignette portrayed a sort of latter-day Man From Another Place.

Vin Diesel and the Fast And Furious Team Are Producing a Series Reboot of Miami Vice

A reboot of the classic 80s action series Miami Vice is currently in development at NBC. Some of you might be happy to learn that the same team behind the Fast and Furious franchise, including Vin Diesel and screenwriter Chris Morgan, are developing the series as Executive Producers.

I enjoyed watching Miami Vice when I was a kid. It was a fun series that starred Don Johnson as James “Sonny” Crockett and it had a pretty solid run from 1984 to 1990. Throughout the course of its run, the series also featured actors like Edward James Olmos, Gene Simmons, Pam Grier, Laurence Fishburne, Viggo Mortensen, and John Leguizamo.

There was also a feature film directed by Michael Mann in 2006 with Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell. I wasn’t a big fan of that flick as it was fairly boring and very forgettable, which was a shame because I think Michael Mann is a great director.

Miami Vice: Vin Diesel-produced TV reboot in the works

Shamus Kelley Kirsten Howard Aug 3, 2017

It looks like the iconic 80s cops of Miami Vice will be back, with Vin Diesel’s production company making it happen....

Can you feel it calling in the air tonight? A reboot of Miami Vice is in the works at NBC, according to Variety.

The reboot is being brought to us by Vin Diesel's production company, One Race Television, and Chris Morgan productions. Morgan has penned six of the Fast & Furious movies. Considering the Fast & Furious franchise started with a cop and 2 Fast 2 Furious took place in Miami, it's not a bad fit.

Peter Macmanus, known for writing TV series such as Satisfaction and The Mist, will be writing the script. No executive producers have been announced but Variety muses that "it’s more than likely Macmanus, Morgan, and Diesel will all serve as EPs".

The original Miami Vice series ran on NBC
