Okay documentary on the film "Uptown Girls", 8 October 2005
Author: hppg from Australia

This is a standard short making-of to be found on a DVD of a film. I liked the film in question, "Uptown Girls", and found this documentary to be tolerable, but not outstanding. Most of the cast was interviewed and they had some interesting and amusing things to say. Dakota Fanning was more animated and less pretentious than I'd ever seen her - she actually seemed like a kid for at least part of her bits. Unfortunately, the director ruined this by discussing how working with her was like working with a 40-year-old actor, blah blah blah. We learned a little bit about casting - but the director recited the usual clichés, saying all these people were his first choice - and saw a few snatches of what went on behind the scenes, and some clips from the film itself. Not much was presented apart from cast and director, we didn't really hear about editing, or writing, or anything like that. Costume information appeared in a separate documentary, "Rockin' Style", which doesn't appear on IMDb. Oh, and there were some great bits about the pig from the film in this making-of! I recommend it if you liked the film. It's not the greatest but there's nothing better available.
