Art Directors honor 'Line,' 'Geisha'

12 February 2006 | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

Walk the Line won for production design on a contemporary film while Memoirs of a Geisha took the prize for period or fantasy film as the Art Directors Guild celebrated its 10th annual awards on Saturday. The guild's television awards went to Rome for single-camera series, Mad TV for multi-camera series, Empire Falls for movie or mini-series, and the 77th Annual Academy Awards for awards show or special. Of the 10 films nominated in the guild's two categories, three have been nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for its lone art direction award: Memoirs of a Geisha, Good Night, And Good Luck and King Kong. The other Oscar contenders are Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Pride & Prejudice. »
