Katherine Kelly has revealed that her upcoming theatre role is the "opposite" of playing Becky McDonald in Coronation Street. The actress will leave the soap in December after playing the barmaid for five years. She will appear in a new production of Oliver Goldsmith's play She Stoops To Conquer at London's National Theatre from January. "I'm so excited and I'm really looking forward to it all but I'm trying not to think too much about that so I can concentrate on giving Becky the send-off she deserves," she told the Press Association. "I finish Coronation Street on the Friday and start rehearsals for that on Monday and it's the complete opposite, it couldn't be a more opposite role to Becky. Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly has reportedly landed a role in a National Theatre play. The actress, who plays Becky McDonald in the ITV1 soap, announced in April that she would be leaving the show at the end of the year, after five years in Weatherfield.
