Sony Options Kickstarter-Funded ‘Half’ (Exclusive)

Sony Pictures Television has optioned the script and pilot presentation of single-camera comedy “Half,” a project that hyphenate Matt Angel financed on Kickstarter.
Based on a true story, “Half” focuses on a 13-year-old girl conceived through artificial insemination, who convinces her dysfunctional family to help her search for all of her half siblings.
Angel wrote “Half” and then produced and directed after raising $28,000 in his 2011 Kickstarter campaign. The project had 203 backers, with the top individual contribution $1,000.
Angel began his career as in actor in shows for Disney, Nickelodeon and the Hub including “Victorious” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” before moving onto more recent guest roles on such series as “CSI: NY,” and “Necessary Roughness.”
Angel’s father Dan, whose past credits include “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour” and Hub series “Dan vs.,” is exec producing.

Exclusive: Phil Lewis has landed a lead role opposite Matthew Broderick in CBS‘ untitled Tad Quill multi-camera comedy pilot directed by James Burrows. The project, from CBS TV Studios, centers on Jack (Broderick), a recently widowed father jumping back into the dating pool. Lewis, repped by Klwgn and Abrams, will play Jack’s best friend and co-worker. Kristin Chenoweth plays Jack’s sister. Lewis, who has a long sitcom resume that includes stints on Friends, Yes, Dear, Scrubs and The Suite Life of Zack And Cody, has also made a successful transition to multi-camera comedy directing, recently heming multiple episodes for CBS’ Mike & Molly and 2 Broke Girls and ABC’s Malibu Country. »

Scary Movie 5 just had its red carpet premiere last night with the likes of Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan and Mike Tyson occupying virtually the same space. It seems far too early to start talking about the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release, yet here we are.
Sometime over the past day or so, online retailer Amazon.com began pre-orders for the Blu-ray and DVD editions of Scary Movie 5. It's far too early to nail down a release date, but if we apply the standard three-month rule, you can expect Scary Movie 5 to start popping up on store shelves in either late July or early August.
