Strictly Come Dancing final watched by 11.5m on BBC One

Strictly Come Dancing topped the ratings last night (December 21), with an average of 11.5 million tuning in for the BBC One dancing competition's grand finale.

The earlier instalment of the show's first ever all-female final at 6.30pm received an audience share of 48.1%, while 45.8% returned at 8.40pm to see Abbey Clancy win the 2013 Glitterball Trophy.

Over on BBC Two, a repeat of Dad's Army brought in the channel's biggest ratings of the night with 1.75m (7.21%) tuning in at 8.20pm, while an episode of The Many Faces of, focusing on the late Ronnie Barker, was seen by 1.43m (7.37%) at 10pm.

The X Factor drops to lowest-rated final since 2004 launch with 9.5m

The X Factor dropped to its second lowest-rated finale ever on Sunday (December 15), according to overnight data.

Viewing figures for Sam Bailey's victory were up over a million from Saturday's show to an average audience of 9.51 million (36.3%) from 7.30pm. An added 219,000 (0.9%) tuned in on +1.

This is down around 1.4m from last year's average score, and is the lowest-rated final since 2004's launch series, seen by 8.1m viewers. Last night's episode peaked with an audience of 10.6m (34.9%) at 8.45pm.

On BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing was up nearly 300k from last week's results show to 9.63m (38.9%) at 7pm.

Sports Personality of the Year 2013 scored 5.72m (22%) at 7.45pm, which is down around a massive 9m from last year. However, last year's edition was not up against the X Factor final, and marked a historic year in British sport.

The X Factor: Judges' winner predictions revealed

The predictions that the X Factor judges made earlier in the series have been revealed.

The Xtra Factor hosts Caroline Flack and Matt Richardson revealed the acts that Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger had predicted would go all the way in this year's competition.

Walsh predicted that either Sam Bailey or Luke Friend would win the competition, meaning he correctly guessed two of this year's final three.

Scherzinger, Barlow and Osbourne all opted for Bailey, correctly guessing that she would win the support of the public this year.

It is the first time that all four judges have correctly guessed the identity of the show's winner.

Meanwhile, host Dermot O'Leary also predicted Bailey's victory.

Xtra Factor's Caroline Flack tipped Hannah Barrett to win this year's series, while Matt Richardson backed Tamera Foster.

X Factor Gary Barlow: 'I'd love to write for Sam Bailey'

The X Factor's Gary Barlow has revealed that he would like to write material for Sam Bailey.

Bailey was crowned champion of the 2013 series tonight (December 15), after beating Nicholas McDonald in the final at Wembley Arena.

Asked on The Xtra Factor if he would consider writing songs for Bailey, Barlow said: "Oh, absolutely. I think the whole world will be looking at Sam right now as a great vehicle to be able perform their song with that kind of emotion and the kind of technical ability that she's got. It's incredible.

"I would be excited as a songwriter to write for her voice."

The Take That star then confirmed that he fully intends to work with Bailey in her post-X Factor career.

X Factor 2013: Nicole Scherzinger predicts Sam Bailey will win

The X Factor's Nicole Scherzinger has tipped Sam Bailey to win tomorrow night's (December 15) head-to-head final.

The judge described Bailey as the "winner" of this year's series following their duet on tonight's live show.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! rose in the ratings to top Sunday overall, according to overnight data.

Kian Egan's victory in the finale of this year's ITV series attracted 10.97 million (42.0%) at 9pm, with an added 327,000 (1.8%) tuning in on +1. This is significantly up from last year's 9.5 million total.

Earlier, The X Factor climbed by over a million viewers from last Sunday's results show to 9.01m (34.3%) at 8pm (221k/0.8% on +1).

On BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing dropped nearly a million viewers to 9.37m (35.2%) at 7.15pm.

The Paradise dipped to 4.15m (15.8%) at 8pm for its final episode. Britain and the Sea interested 2.69m (10.3%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's coverage of the Snooker UK Championship final scored an average 1.51m (6.1%) from 7pm.

The latest act to be eliminated from The X Factor has been revealed.

Rough Copy exited the show following a sing-off with Luke Friend. The result means that Luke, Sam Bailey and Nicholas McDonald will contest next week's live final at London's Wembley Arena.

Luke took on 'Somewhere Only We Know' by Keane in the sing-off, while Rough Copy performed a rendition of Boyz II Men's 'End Of The Road'.

Nicholas McDonald has explained why he became emotional during his performance on tonight's (December 7) X Factor live show.

The 17-year-old broke down in tears while struggling to perform Beyoncé's 'Halo' in the semi-final of the ITV show.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor, McDonald explained: "I just think it was because I never ever thought I'd get this far in the show, and I just looked up, I [saw] my mum and dad crying. I wasn't nervous. It was just, I get lost in the moment."

The semi-finalist admitted that he was concerned that his performance would jeopardise his place in the competition.

He continued: "When I walked off, I thought, 'I think now that I'm going home because of that one performance'."

Louis Walsh has predicted that X Factor contestant Sam Bailey will "definitely" get a record deal once the show is over.

Speaking to Caroline Flack on The Xtra Factor tonight (December 7), the judge said that he believes all of the remaining four acts will be successful in the music industry.

When asked by a caller which act will have the most longevity in the music industry, Walsh replied: "Whoever works hardest!

"I think Rough Copy should get a record deal. I think Luke [Friend] should get a record deal. Sam Bailey will definitely get a record deal."

When Flack asked Walsh if he would manage any of them, the judge replied: "Yes, definitely. They're all manageable, they're all workable."

Dermot O'Leary is to guest host ITV's This Morning in January.

The X Factor presenter will join Holly Willoughby for a week next month, filling in for Phillip Schofield.

Schofield will be away from January 13 to 16, as he films the latest series of The Cube.

O'Leary said: "I'm delighted to be guest hosting This Morning for a week. When Holly called me and asked, I couldn't resist, I really miss working with her, and am looking forward to having some fun."

Strictly Come Dancing rose in the ratings to come out on top overall on Sunday, according to overnight data.

Mark Benton's elimination from the BBC One competition rose by around 200,000 viewers from last week to 10.28 million (40.4%) at 7.20pm.

On ITV, The X Factor dropped by over a million from last Sunday to 7.68m (29.4%) at 8pm. An added 333k (1.3%) watched on +1. However, many ITV viewers experienced blackouts during the show, so the final figures may have been affected by this.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! was also down by almost a million from last week to 9.40m (37.1%) at 9pm (370k/2.2% on +1). Earlier, Surprise, Surprise entertained 3.61 (14.6%) at 7pm (235k/0.9%).

Later on BBC One, The Paradise dipped by over 300k to 4.45m (17.0%) at 8pm. David Dimbleby's Britain and the Sea interested 2.88m (11.0%) at 9pm.

Tamera Foster has said that she is "excited" about the future after being voted out of The X Factor.

Foster lost out to Luke Friend in tonight's show after Gary Barlow sent the vote to Deadlock.

The X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has joked that Deadlock can be a "pain in the arse".

Gary Barlow sent the vote to Deadlock tonight, resulting in Tamera Foster being eliminated over Luke Friend.

Gary Barlow has explained his decision to send the vote to Deadlock on The X Factor tonight (December 1).

Tamera Foster was eliminated from the competition after facing Luke Friend in the sing-off, as Barlow chose to revert to the public vote.

"Some weeks, I wish there wasn't a sing-off, because it's down to the audience," Barlow said on The Xtra Factor. "It's down to the audience on a Saturday night - leave it up to the audience on a Sunday."

Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh clashed after Tamera Foster was voted out of The X Factor.

Scherzinger - who mentored Foster in the competition - described her as a "star" on aftershow The Xtra Factor.

"No-one can take that from her," she said. "She's going to be the biggest star to come out of this show, and everybody knows it."

Strictly Come Dancing ratings hit a series high last night (November 23) with a peak audience of 11.7 million.

The BBC One dancing competition attracted an average of 10.6m viewers and a 43.7% audience share when it aired on BBC One at 6.30pm.

Over on ITV, The X Factor has less success with 7.3m (27.21%) at 8pm, dropping 860,000 viewers since last week's show. A further 357k (1.47%) watched the singing show on +1.

Back on BBC One, the channel's successful night continued at 7.50pm, with 10.2m (37.4%) tuning in to the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special 'The Day of The Doctor'. Long-running medical drama Casualty brought in 4.16m (16.7%) at 9pm.

Over on BBC Two, Dad's Army attracted 1.43m (5.25%) at 8pm, while Horizon special 'Comet of the Century' brought in 1.45m (5.96%) at 9.15pm.

The latest act to be eliminated from The X Factor has been revealed.

Sam Callahan exited the show following a sing-off with Luke Friend. The result means that Boys mentor Louis Walsh has lost his first contestant of the series.

Sam took on 'Iris' by the Goo Goo Dolls in the sing-off, while Luke performed U2's 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For'.

Walsh chose not to participate in this week's vote as he did not want to choose between his acts.

Nicole Scherzinger opted to send home Callahan ahead of Friend. She threw a pen at Callahan and told him that she was "frustrated" that he left it too late to give a strong vocal performance.
