October Horrors Day 6 – Black Mirror

Black Mirror

Created by Charlie Brooker

Synopsis:

A dark anthology series about the twisted hold that technology has over the over us all.

Technology has become something of a crutch for the modern human being. We use our phones and our computers to do pretty much everything, keep in touch with people, take photos of our loved ones and share photos of our loved ones with the people that we keep in touch with. This addiction to technology is at the dark heart of Black Mirror, an anthology series from the imagination of Charlie Brooker, which looks at the twisted dark hold that technology has on all of us.

Now many of you are probably accusing me of cheating given that Black Mirror is not technically a horror series, but I would argue that kind of sort of is. I mean what’s more horrifying than seeing the damaging effects

Olly Murs laughs off "rubbish" claims he's dating former X Factor star Diana Vickers

Olly Murs may now be hosting The X Factor but he most certainly isn't dating former contestant Diana Vickers.

Murs and his girlfriend Francesca Thomas split up last month after a three-year relationship, and it was apparently rumoured that he has since hooked up with the 2008 semi-finalist.

"It's so ridiculous. It's a load of rubbish," Murs told The Mirror at the Music Industry Trust Awards.

"Me and Diana are friends, we've known each other a long time. We laughed about it. What? We're casually dating? No, we're not. We find it funny."

Murs competed in The X Factor a year after Vickers, later becoming host of The Xtra Factor and fronting the main show this year.

In the same chat, Murs did admit once asking out Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on a date... and not hearing back from her.

Unsurprisingly, neither of them have brought that up since they reunited on the show.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor, they said: "We're very different and we knew that from the start. We wanted to show people what we're about, who Alien are, and hope people got it.

"I think we gave our best performance. We went out on the week where [the theme was] 'This is me' and for us, that was us."

Bupsi said it wasn't as much of a shock to learn she was leaving the competition as she knew the song wasn't right for her.

"I just knew it was the wrong song for me," she said, before revealing that Simon Cowell said he blamed himself for giving her the wrong song.

Simon appeared to talk over Cheryl, leading the singer to halt the interview and say to him: "Are you saying something?"

Simon cattily replied: "Are we not allowed to talk?"

He went on to add: "I lost someone as well tonight, you weren't the only one."

It's only the first results show. Will these two even the last the whole series together?

The X Factor 2015: She's back! See Monica Michael and the other acts in rehearsals for the first live show

She's back! Monica Michael was snapped in rehearsals for The X Factor yesterday after becoming the show's Wildcard this series.

Michael - who was originally sent home after Judges' Houses - was seen performing her rendition of Ed Sheeran's 'Make It Rain'. Oh, and she had time for a hug with mentor Rita Ora, too.

Rita was really dishing out the hugs, as she was also spotted embracing Louisa Johnson - who'll take on 'God Only Knows' as part of this weekend's 'This Is Me' theme.

Elsewhere, she could be seen giving Kiera Weathers a pep talk ahead of her performance of Katy B's 'Crying For No Reason'.

But there was also time for a giggle and some dance practice with Lauren Murray, whose dream of performing a Whitney track on the show will become reality this weekend when she tackles the legend's version of 'I'm Every Woman'.

You know you hear Simon often saying, 'I don't want to tell you who you should be, I want you to tell me who you are? This is their opportunity to show us who they are."

Simon added that he's "really, really excited" about the first live show, admitting that he's glad to be at this stage of the competition.

Simon Cowell played a cruel Wildcard prank on The Xtra Factor last night.

Joining his fellow X Factor judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw to announce the lucky act being brought back to the show, he suggested that they announce it at the same time.

But after a countdown, he announced: "Jennifer Phillips!" - leaving Cheryl looking shocked as he smirked: "I'm kidding."

"I'm really sorry if you're watching, Jennifer," said Xtra Factor host Rochelle Humes before the judges announced the name of the actual Wildcard, Monica Michael.

"Look, Monica's come back twice," Simon explained. "I hope some of the other people who were close will come back next year because as you can see with Monica now, there is that possibility.

The X Factor 2015: Everything you need to know including the judges, airdates and rumours

The X Factor is well and truly under way, and we've been keeping an eye on everything that's been going on...

When is The X Factor on TV?

The show kicked off on August 29 - and in fact, in an attempt to avoid any clashes with Strictly Come Dancing, ITV bosses have unveiled the full schedule right from the off, so we know everything that's coming. You can get a proper look at it here, but auditions continued until Saturday, September 19 with Boot Camp kicking off on September 20. That was the first of five boot camp shows - two set in a country house, and then three episodes of the dreaded Six Chair Challenge. They were all on Sundays, to avoid the Rugby World Cup, but then Judges' Houses aired on October 24 and October 25... and the first big live show will kick off on October 31. And the grand final? It's set for Sunday,

X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw wants to bring back Monica Michael: "I think she's got something"

X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw has said that he would like to bring back Monica Michael.

The Girls contestant was dropped last night (October 25) by Rita Ora after performing a self-penned track at Judges' Houses.

Asked who he would reinstate if he had a wild card, Grimshaw told Digital Spy: "Maybe Monica. I love Monica. I thought it was very courageous - it took balls tonight to do a song which she's written.

"I thought it was very moving and really emotional. So I'd love to see Monica come back. I think she's got something."

Grimshaw took Mason Noise, Che Chesterman and Seann Miley Moore to the live shows yesterday, though his Judges' Houses segment was shown on Saturday's show.

The Radio 1 DJ admitted that he knew who he was going to drop on Saturday, which made it harder to break the bad news to unfortunate three Josh Daniel, Ben Clark and Simon Lynch.

Mason Noise booed on X Factor - but judges say "he'll win you over"

There was trouble on The X Factor tonight as contestant Mason Noise was booed after getting through to the live shows.

Noise was judge Nick Grimshaw's first choice for his Boys category, but the decision didn't go down too well with the audience, who were quick to boo the singer.

X Factor: Nick Grimshaw sends Mason Noise, Ché Chesterman and Seann Miley Moore to live shows

Despite hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack calling for the jibes to stop, the crowd were keen to show their anger towards Noise.

The backlash against the singer comes after he criticised the show's editing of his audition while at the Six Chair Challenge, before dropping his mic and storming off the stage.

But on tonight's The Xtra Factor Grimshaw promised viewers that Noise will win people over once the live shows start.

"Successful artists always polarise," he said, comparing Noise to Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
