Black Jack Press preparing to launch Viking-themed anthology

Sean Fahey, founder of Black Jack Press and mastermind behind the outstanding weird west anthology series, Tall Tales from the Badlands, has begun a Kickstarter campaign to launch a new anthology, Sagas of the Northmen, featuring one of medieval Europe’s most feared cultures: the Vikings. On the Kickstarter page, Fahey states, “In the tradition of the medieval Icelandic Sagas, our book features tales about (seemingly) ordinary men and women finding themselves in extraordinary circumstances. The subject matter explored in this inaugural volume is expansive and includes stand-alone tales about the infamous raid on Lindisfarne, Leif Erikson, the Icelandic justice system, the Viking funeral ritual, the Varangian Guard, the Viking warrior ethos and Freydis Eiriksdottir’s expedition to North America.” These are some truly epic tales from Viking history. The raid on Lindisfarne was a brutal attack by the Vikings on English villagers and marked the beginning of the “Viking Age.

25 mainly forgotten Us number 1 movies from the 2000s

Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal and, erm, Kangaroo Jack: they all nabbed the box office top spot last decade...

By the end of the 2000s, getting number one at the American box office was a valuable marketing commodity. As such, studios pumped more and more money into making sure they at least had a great opening weekend for their product.

The consequence of this was that it was harder and harder for smaller and quirkier films to take a brief spot in the sun. Certainly towards the second half of the decade, it seems that the number one movie each week was pre-ordinained in a marketing meeting somewhere.

Still, there were some films that have since fallen out of public view that clawed their way to number one. How many of these do you remember?

Nikki Reed Will Open A Haunted Email In New Horror Flick

The Twilight Saga may have been a shamefully terrible chapter in teen-targeted cinema, but the series did act as a launch-pad for multiple actors and actresses, most notably Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed. Greene has demonstrated considerable acting talent in projects like Cbgb and ABC’s short-lived Pan Am, while Reed was one of the best parts of recent action fare like Catch .44 and Empire State. Greene already made her bid to become a Hollywood scream queen with 2012 flop The Apparition, and now, it’s Reed’s chance. The actress has just signed on to topline a Singapore-set horror film called Email, which will start shooting on location in Singapore this May.

Singaporean director Kelvin Tong will helm the flick for Spj Enterprises, a production company also based out of Singapore. Tong previously directed The Maid, which was widely considered to be one of the country’s first horror

Interview: Actor Jodelle Ferland Discusses Her Role in The Tall Man

  • Cinelinx
At seventeen years old, actor Jodelle Ferland already has quite an impressive resume of films and television shows she's starred in. Anyone looking at the movies she's been in will notice an abundance of genre films like Silent Hill, Carrie, The Messengers, and The Cabin in the Woods. Ferland expanded her fanbase even further when she appeared in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse as Bree the vampire. Her latest role alongside Jessica Biel in director Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man is nothing short of excellent and should garner her even more attention from the movie industry. I had the opportunity of interviewing Ferland about her role as Jenny in The Tall Man. The movie is available now on Blu-ray and DVD.

How did you get involved in the production of The Tall Man?

I was approached about the role of Jenny by the director, Pascal Laugier. As far as I know,
