I just recently saw this documentary on The Science Channel and was impressed with the depth of research and the scope of information presented here that I hadn't seen in other documentaries about the horrific eruption of Mount Vesuvius on 25th August 79 CE.
Modern computer graphics, a vulcanologist's detailed views and research as well as re-enactments of what Pompeiians may have gone through during the eruption accentuates just how terrible the eruption and the depth of the physical suffering they endured (which other documentaries don't go into).
A job well done.
