“The Augustine Interfaith Order of Hellbound Saints, a team of blasphemous ministers who live in a constant state of debauchery, work to drag the worst of demons back to Hell.” Hellbenders, which stars the likes of Clifton Collins Jr., Clancy Brown and Bubbles from The Wire (Andre Royo), seems like the exact sort of just right release for the October VOD season. While attending the midnight selection at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival, our own Nathan Adams said that Hellbenders “ends the reign of generic exorcism movies by injecting some raunchy jokes and sickening gore into its proceedings. No movie with a sex rabbit could be bad, could it?” No, my dear Nathan, it couldn’t. So with Hellbenders set for a VOD release this weekend, we’ve arranged a little taste of the foul-mouthed priests hunting demons-palooza for you, our ever-discerning and passionate readers. In the clip below, you’ll see as this Order of Hellbound Saints »

Jt Petty's 'Hellbenders' will be heading into theatres and onto VOD/VOD 3D over in the Us from 18 October so hopefully we can expect a few more pics and posters to enjoy along the way. Sadly this newly released one-sheet just isn't going to cut it. It's a particularly shoddy teaser and just looks like a crudely photoshopped effort. Hopefully we can expect bigger and better things from the project which is receiving plenty of positive reviews thus far. Clifton Collins Jr. ('Pacific Rim'), Clancy Brown ('Pet Semetary 2'), Andre Royo, Robyn Rikoon, Macon Blair and Dan Folger ('Balls of Fury') all star. Head below to check out the new poster. »

Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon are perhaps best known to the public as Deputy Travis Junior (Garant) and Lieutenant Jim Dangle (Lennon) from the comedy series Reno 911! (2003-2009). But they’ve also been working steadily behind the camera as writers, having written numerous big budget screenplays including Night at the Museum and Balls of Fury (they also created Reno 911!). Altogether, their films have earned an impressive $1.4 at the box office. They have also written about this, and other accomplishments in their 2011 book Writing Movies for Fun and Profit: How We Made a Billion Dollars at the Box Office and You Can Too! It was inevitable then that they would want to try their hand at directing a film together. The result is the new horror comedy Hell Baby.

Trash Dump Baby: Sketch Comedy Masters Concoct Hellish Misfire
Not quite crass enough to be a successful ‘late night humor’ film and not nearly witty or intelligent enough to ever look past its impromptu, scattered demeanor, Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon’s Hell Baby is perhaps ironically titled. Known for their successful television series, “Reno 911,” and various supporting turns in mainstream American comedies, Garant (who previously directed Balls of Fury, 2004) and Lennon haven’t mastered the art of commanding an audience’s attention beyond punch lines, and their latest effort plays like an idea cooked up from a group of guys that got stoned and watched Rosemary’s Baby (or the Roger Corman produced The Unborn, 1991) late one night.

Ensemble comedies can be hit and miss affairs – for every Anchorman, there’s a Balls Of Fury. So co-writer/directors Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon will have to walk a fine line with their new bundle of terror, Hell Baby. Take a look at the trailer over at Apple and judge for yourself how they’ve done.Of course, in terms of taste and judgement, the pair – usually found either writing blockbusters such as the Night At The Museum movies, or in the improv likes of Reno 911! – has decided to go for broke with the madness and the crazy comedy. Oh, and the gore.Still, when your plot finds a couple (Rob Corddry’s Jack and Leslie Bibb’s Vanessa) moving into a run-down New Orleans fixer-upper with the intention of making a quick buck only to discover that it has a Satanic past and lurking horrors, including Vanessa getting pregnant with demon spawn, »
The trailer for thriller Scenic Route has made its way online, and it looks pretty intense. While not straight up horror, it looks like some pretty crazy stuff. Check it out!
“Mitchell (Josh Duhamel) and Carter (Dan Fogler), life-long friends who have drifted apart, are on a road trip when their old pickup breaks down, leaving them stranded on an isolated desert road. Nobody can pick apart a man like his best friend, and as the relentless elements of the desert grind them down, they start to attack each other’s life decisions with unwavering brutality.
