Ha! Check out the poster from Michael Cera’s upcoming comedy Youth in Revolt in all its Twilightyness. I dig the New Moon vibe. I also dig cool sunglasses.
While we’re at it, I also love red band trailers. Check it out below.
Youth in Revolt is the teen comedy from Charlie Bartlett’s screenwriter, Gustin Nash, and director Miguel Arteta (Chuck & Buck). The film is an adaptation of C.D. Payne’s first book in a series of best-selling satirical novels starring Nick Twisp, a sexually charged 14-year-old whose intelligence and hormones get him into all sorts of adventures.
Youth in Revolt leaps into its wide release in the U.S. on January 8th.

From what we’ve been told all along about the Thor movie, it would entirely take place in the mystical Asgardian realm, with only a tiny part of the movie (likely at the end of the film) taking place on Earth.
This has seemingly been the obvious scenario, especially with the plethora of casting decisions made for Asgardian characters in recent weeks including Odin, The Warriors Three and Heimdall.
Strangely enough however, Variety’s article on Tuesday about a recent cast addition (more on that below) contained a sentence reporting that the story of the Thor movie “centers on a partly disabled med student who discovers his Norse god alter ego, the hammer-swinging Thor.”
For those unfamiliar with the comics, this med student goes by the name of Donald Blake who’s Thor’s other identity. Why or how? Well, Thor’s farther Odin wanted to have his son, the God of Thunder, »

Watchmen—The Ultimate Cut (Warner Bros.) Director Zack Snyder’s film of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ landmark graphic novel is as worthy an adaptation of a great book that has ever been filmed. In an alternative version of the year 1985, Richard Nixon is serving his third term as President and super heroes have been outlawed by a congressional act, in spite of the fact that two of the most high-profile “masks,” Dr. Manhattan (Billy Cruddup) and The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) helped the U.S. win the Vietnam War. When The Comedian is found murdered, many former heroes become concerned that a conspiracy is afoot to assassinate retired costumed crime fighters. Former masks Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson), Silk Spectre (Malin Akerman) and still-operating Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley, in an Oscar-worthy turn) launch an investigation of their own, all while the Pentagon’s “Doomsday »

Youth is Revolt is the screen adaptation of C.D. Payne’s cult book series charting the progress of the awkward, sex obsessed, super smart teen that is Nick Twisp. Michael Cera is made to inhabit this deadpan absurdist comedy world, a place where the teens are way more intelligent than the adults. It’s not an original take on life, but it’s probably how most teens think, so “whatever.” The strong supporting cast includes Steve Buscemi as Dad, and Zach Galifianakis as Jerry, one of his Mum’s pig boyfriends. Gustin Nash’s script feels slightly jerky, but suspending disbelief when you are laughing is usually easy.
Nick Twisp believes everyone is getting more sex than him, and he’s probably right. His separated parents certainly are. Buscemi is banging half-his-age-hottie Ari Graynor, »

Youth In Revolt Directed by Miguel Arteta Mean-spirited screwball comedy Youth in Revolt , based on C.D. Payne's 1993 novel, follows Nick Twisp (Michael Cera), a cynical, sex-obsessed 16-year-old who, while on vacation in a trailer park, meets and falls in love with beautiful, intellectual teen rebel Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday). The only things standing in the way of the consummation of Nick's first love is Sheeni's poetry-writing ex-boyfriend Trent (Jonathan B. Wright) and her religious zealot parents (M. Emmett Walsh and Mary Kay Place) . It barely needs to be said that Michael Cera has perfected his socially awkward, asexual, nerdy adolescent shtick. For some, it might be tiring to see the same actor in the same role once again trying to lose the same virginity, and Youth in Revolt is more of the same. As Nick, Cera doesn't do much to elevate the material to anything other than a typical coming-of-age story, »

The movie, in which Cera plays a lovelorn teenager who imagines a ladies-man alter ego for himself, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to positive reviews this month, after having been shuffled around the release schedule for some time now. "This is in no way a slight to the film," says Liz Biber, Evp of Publicity for The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films. "It screened fabulously in Toronto and now we want to give the film more time to build word of mouth and maybe even hit a few more festivals. The movie will »

The Weinstein Company has pushed back Youth in Revolt, which recently premiered at Tiff to decent reviews, from October 30 to January 15, 2010. The comedy-drama was first announced in 2007 and has already been delayed twice. Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Long, Ari Graynor, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart, Rooney Mara and Steve Buscemi star in the film. It was directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Chuck & Buck). Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by C.D. Payne, the film revolves around the adventures of a teenager who meets the girl of his dreams while on a family vacation and turns his life upside down in order to be with her. Gustin Nash (Charlie Bartlett) penned the screenplay. The consensus seems to be that the Weinstein’s will use the fall to focus on more Oscar-friendly films like Rob Marshall’s Nine, A Single Man and The Road. You »

With Diablo Cody’s new high school horror film Jennifer’S Body tearing it’s way onto screens this Friday and school itself getting back into session, it’s the perfect opportunity to honor that age old character staple of high school movies, the one that everyone loves to hate, the bane of teenage existence… the high school principle! (Make believe, of course, no offense to any high school principles who may be reading this… or, not!) We’ve decided to take a look back on all the great movies about high school and compile a list of our most favorite of the less-than-favorable members of the cinematic school staff.

Time flies when you're having fun! I'm surprised that we're now doing the 4th update of the Top 50 Hottest Young Actors list! This time, I'm pretty sure the debates will be hotter, more 'personal' as fans defend their favorite actors and argue why "Robert Ulliel" (Who's that?) should be on top and not "Gaspard Pattinson" or "Joseph Gordon-Gosling".
- - -
- - - The Hitlist History, so far... During the first Top 50 Hitlist, it was Ryan Gosling who took the top spot. With his mesmerizing performance in Half Nelson and an Oscar nom for Best Actor for the same movie, he led a pack of awesome talents including James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal and Gaspard Ulliel among others. The 2nd time we did the hitlist, the movie world was swept away by the Twilight fever, and before anyone recognized how 'hot' he was, Robert Pattinson was already at the top of our list. »

A movie about the man that discovered The Beatles is in the works. In 1961 Brian Epstein heard the fab four when they were playing a gig in the Cavern Club and set out to represent the group and secure them a record deal. After a string of failures Epstein finally convinced an executive at Emi to give the band a break and cut a record on the label. The rest was history. Epstein managed the group for six years before a drug overdose in 1967 ended his life. He was just 32 years old.
Titled A Life in the Day, the screenplay has already been written by Tony Gittelson, a man whose dayjob is working as a second assistant director on movies and television shows. David Permut (Charlie Bartlett, Face/Off) will produce and is hoping to court the rights holder to the Beatles catalogue and have a few of their songs in the soundtrack. »
