"I was on a chat show with Cheryl the other night," Walliams told Cowell.
"I can see why you like her. She doesn't take crap from anybody."
He added: "I couldn't actually look at her. It's like staring at the sun. If you look for too long, you'll go blind.
"How do you cope with being on the panel with her?"
Cowell replied: "I think it's more of a question of how does she cope with me? I think it's difficult for her."
Walliams quipped: "Because she finds you so attractive?"
Cowell joked back: "Yes."
Walliams said: "Are you sure she doesn't see you as a sort of pervy uncle? »
The singer and new co-host of the show spoke to Digital Spy and other reporters at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich about Grimshaw's rumoured position on this year's judging panel.
"I think he'd be great. I think he's a real great personality, he's really outspoken, he's got a great way about him," Murs said.
"He's involved in music - the biggest radio station in the country - so it ticks all the boxes for me. I don't think you have to be an artist to judge. People forget that Louis [Walsh] wasn't an artist, Sharon Osbourne wasn't an artist, Simon [Cowell's] not an artist.
"I think just being involved in music gives something different. I think he'd be brilliant for the show, he's a really good character and I get on really well with Grimmy. »
On rumours Grimshaw could replace Louis Walsh as a judge, Friedman said: "He isn't a musical artist so I'm not sure what coaching he'd be able to give the contestants.
"The criteria should be an amazing management type or successful artist."
The choreographer had a brief stint as one of the show's judges himself in 2007. He told The Sun that he isn't sure what advice the BBC Radio 1 DJ would be able to offer the contestants.
Walsh has tipped Grimshaw to join this year's panel, saying that Simon Cowell has him "in mind".
Meanwhile, the DJ has admitted that he would "love" to play a part in the new series, but explained that he has not had any discussions with Cowell.
The X Factor returns to ITV later this year.
Caroline Flack thinks Olly Murs will add a ''bit of cheekiness'' to 'The X Factor'. The pair are co-presenting the ITV talent show this year and the 35-year-old star has admitted they've had to reduce the ''silliness''. She said: ''We've got to change it slightly. We've got to take away the silliness a little bit. We can bring fun to it and bring excitement but it's got to be about the contestants and their relationship with the judges and of course the audience and their voting. ''[Olly's] going to have a nice relationship with Simon [Cowell] because they know each other really well.'' Caroline »
The Bgt judge will perform her new single 'The Way We Are' on the show, and said that she relishes the challenge of singing live during a dance routine.
"I'm not one of these people who shy away from a challenge," Dixon told The Sun. "I always sing live, that's standard for me. It's my job, so that's why I have got to look after myself.
"I have been working with a trainer because I want to make sure I have stamina. When I perform it's full-on and energetic, so I have to make sure I'm fit and can cope with that."

The X Factor is still a few months away, but that doesn't mean we don't know anything about what to expect when it rolls back into town. In fact, we've been getting a few snippets here and there, so read on for everything we know so far about the new series!
When is it back on television?
We don't have a confirmed date for The X Factor's return yet. That won't be announced until much nearer the time, but we'd bet it will start in August - it has for every other series apart from the first. In fact, series 11 began on August 30, while series 10 kicked off on August 31. If we're taking that general ballpark as a guide, we'd guess Saturday, August 29 - but it could be a week or so earlier, as the last two years have had the latest launches since series one.
Do I still have a chance to audition? »
Shaw wowed the judges at the weekend with her original song 'Summertime', but told Digital Spy today that she feels like she has a lot to prove to the judges.
"Alesha said that I was one to watch, so that kind of puts a bit of pressure on, but it also drives me to work harder," she said. "I want to up my game now. I don't think my audition was as good as I could be. So I really want to do better next time, if I get the opportunity."
Shaw admitted that even her father had some comments about her audition, saying: "My dad's a big critic – he supports me but I know he'll tell me, and he agreed with me, he knew it wasn't my best. I was »
Lewis - who appeared on stage with his big sister on The X Factor - auditions for the Bgt judges as part of the dance troupe Entity.
The Essex-based group, made up of 20 members aged from 10-15, try to make it into the next round of the competition by performing to Bgt's famously dramatic music 'Lux Aeterna' and 'Uptown Funk'.
But will their flips, breakdancing and choreography be enough to convince the judges to put them through?
Elsewhere this weekend, 29-year-old former policeman Aaron Carty surprises the judges with his drag act.
His tribute to Beyoncé - complete with backing dancers and lip syncing - gets the crowd on side, but will the judges feel the same way?
And Aaron's not the only unusual act, »
The first two young ladies to join Beyoncé’s Parkwood company are Chloe Bailey (17 years old) and Halle Bailey (15 years old). The Los Angeles-based sisters, who boast over 550,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel, attracted the attention of the Beyoncé’s manager because of their cover of the pop star’s song “Pretty Hurts.” The Baileys’ cover has 8.4 million video views to date. According to The New York Post, the sisters’ father Douglas claims his daughters worship Beyoncé and he wrote documents related to the deal that “we cannot think of a better person to help guide the girls.”

BAFTA award ceremony are always glitzy affairs, and the TV Craft awards are no different. Taking place at London’s The Brewery, the biggest and best talent in TV were celebrated, with awards being given out for Best Costume Design, Best Writer and Best Director.
The first winner of the night was The Musketeers, with Phoebe De Gaye taking away the award for Best Costume Design. Clearly a little flabbergasted by her win, she took to the media room with only great things to say about her time on the BBC One smash:
It’s a great show to design. It’s got great scope, fantastic characters and it’s a great period to be given a bit of a contemporary feel to it. We also had a fantastic set up in the Czech Republic, which gave us a lot of room to make great costumes
But De Gaye did »

But it's just for BBC Three's brand new show Murder In Successville - a comedy, reality murder mystery.
The show sees celebrity sidekicks join Dci Sleet (Tom Davis) to try to solve a murder in a fictional town full of 'celebrities', but they have no idea what's going to happen to them when they sign up for the show.
We'll get to see them put through their paces by Sleet as they attempt to arrest the right suspect - but will they manage it?
"I got to star in my very own murder mystery and I loved every minute of it... apart from the itchy uniform," O'Leary joked.
Murder in Successville begins on Wednesday (May 6) at 10pm on BBC Three. »
After featuring as a popular and well trusted mentor on several music based reality shows, the multi talented Himesh Reshammiya, will be featuring as a mentor along side Mika Singh and Shaan on the forthcoming reality show ‘The Voice’ India. There are rumours that Sunidhi Chauhan will also be joining the mentoring panel.
‘The Voice’ is a popular reality show in the UK after The X Factor and its format will be seen for the first time in India. Himesh was last seen as a mentor on India’s RAWstar, when he graciously filled in the abscence of YoYo Honey Singh.
It is a well known fact that Himesh nurtures new talent and he has already taken 3 of the RAWstar contestants under his wings. After the success of his previous reality shows (which include SaReGaMaPa Challenge series, Music Ka Maha Muqabla, Surkshetra and India’s RAWstar), it will definitely be »

The show was axed in January ahead of the broadcast of the second half of its second series.
"It's very sad," Parish - who plays Pasiphaë in the fantasy adventure - told Metro of the cancellation.
"The programme was cancelled because it was expensive to make and because it didn't get a huge audience straight away, so I think it was a risk the BBC didn't want to take."
She added: "I feel sorry for the fans because we had quite a big following. They were loyal and very upset when they found out the programme had been cancelled.
"It was an exceptionally good format but it was a children's show really and we were put on at 8.30pm, »
Dermot O'Leary has congratulated Caroline Flack and Olly Murs after they were announced as the new hosts of 'The X Factor'. The 41-year-old presenter took to his Twitter account last night (16.04.15) after the former 'Xtra Factor' hosts were confirmed as his replacements following his decision to step down from the ITV singing competition earlier this year. He wrote: ''Huge congrats to @ollyofficial and @carolineflack1 be gentle with the old girl...that's the show, not Louis. (sic)'' The announcement comes after weeks of speculation as to whether or not the former colleagues - who hosted the ITV2 spin off show together from 2011 to »
So it’s official: this year’s season of The X Factor will be presented by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack. This isn’t really a surprise – the pair have been favourites for the job ever since Dermot O’Leary’s sudden exit last month – but is it a good decision? I’d argue that it’s half of one.
