Guy was born in Switzerland and adopted by the Secretan family. The season 1 finale reveals that Joanna Clore is his mother, and that his father is Fabien Leclerq, a ski instructor who Joanna slept with on holiday.

Martin Dear's father is revealed in season 2, episode 4 to be Donald Twat, a newsagent. Joanna Clore (his mother) invented the "Dear" surname and moved away so that Donald would never know his son.

How does it end?

Angela dies in an incident involving a moose; presumably she died after her car crashed into one.

Caroline and Mac marry; Mac is terminally ill (only a few weeks to live) and it is sort-of planned that, when he dies, Caroline and Guy will get together.

Sue is seen with a new boyfriend at the wedding, having finally given up on Mac.

Joanna and Alan, having killed four people (mostly accidentally), decide that, rather than giving themselves up or running away to Spain, they will commit suicide. They run hand-in-hand, naked, into the sea to drown.

Boyce starts to miss Alan, as his successor is much more forceful and stern and Boyce cannot tease him as he did Alan. Boyce receives a final phone call from Alan, who says he is "flying west."

With Joanna gone, the H.R. department descends into anarchy. Harriet, Rachel, Kim and Karen paint their faces and wear tribal-style clothing. Harriet becomes the new leader.
