There's Something About Meryl is a sweet and truly accurate look at the human fascination with celebrity. The film begins one fateful morning in Hollywood, circa 1994, at the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Two Meryl Streep superfans meet at the site where, in a few hours, Ms. Streep will be putting her hands and feet into the immortal cement where so many Hollywood legends have before her. It seems that Peter (Bernie Van De Yacht) and Martha (Mo Collins) have something missing in their lives that they must obsess over Meryl's. They seem to know less about themselves then they do of their idol. The film's witty script (also written by director Van De Yacht) has such subtlety in its tone that the viewer is never quite sure what emotions they will be feeling next. The production value is outstanding - even the studio logo and title sequence is entertaining - and beautifully shot by Denis Maloney, with impeccable editing by Oscar winner Richard Halsey. Also worth special mention is the brilliant score by composer James T. Sale, which takes on a complete personality of its own.

With the film's style, acting (exceptionally played by the two leads, especially Van De Yacht), and its homages to classic films, There's Something About Meryl is a film that will definitely leave you with an undeniable and refreshing sense of happiness.
