Inaccurate title notwithstanding, interesting featurette

Warning: Spoilers
This consists of interviews with the main cast, the novelist, the screen-writer, and director Clint Eastwood. All of them have something compelling to add, and there is a very clear love of what they're working on. Every so often the smooth flow of these will be interrupted by clips from the movie. If I had to guess, there was some expectation or requirement to include those. It opens with the teaser trailer. Maybe there was a "minimum length" this had to reach? Anyway, if you don't mind those, when the discussion is going on, it's worth your time.

It's 11 and a half minutes long. This is found on my library's copy of Mystic River. It spoils a lot of the show/movie, and so will this review so that I can go into more detail.

They talk about it being completely devoid of effects - it's all about ensemble acting. How it's a story about three kids that grew up together, and now, 25 years later, how their lives have gone on these different paths, and how they find themselves, once again, walking the same streets, and dealing with each other in a profoundly different way than they did when they were children. The story deals with a kind of unimaginable pain: one of them has lost his daughter to brutal murder, and one of them is suspected of that murder. It's fun when there are characters that have to overcome something - they're always having to overcome something that's going on in their lives, and they either solve that problem within their psyche, or just go on and end up in a painful place, and there's a lot of those kind of characters in this picture.

I recommend this to any fan of the property. 7/10

I never quite understood what the moral of this movie was. The storyline is interesting, the plot has entertaining twists. But I've always struggled about the main message...

Wrongful title

Howcome there's NEVER any live footage from the making of a Clint Eastwood film? This documentary is titled FROM PAGE TO SCREEN - most of it is interviews with the actors, with the director and clips from the film. Towards the end of it, you meet the author and the screenplay writer, but no other people. The title suggests that you will follow the story from book: through rewriting; production- & costume design; casting; photographer & director; editing and music - but NO, nothing like that. Stils from the making and mostly of them on Clint Eastwood himself. The title should have been THOUGHTS & IDEAS from the film.

I'll give it 1 point. This documentary gave me NOTHING.

Truly convinced this actually happened

Tim Robbins and Sean Penn not only played their parts or acted their parts...they were those men...Right from the first scene I was convinced that I was someone there with these guys. This film was beautifully pieced together.Always keeping me wanting to know how the character "feels" during the course of the time. Penn, as always, is one of the best actors in the industry. He plays his parts in such an extraordinary manner that he actually convinces anyone watching that he has always been that person all his life ,forgetting he's Playing a part. I've bought this VHS Movie and will watch it again and again to enjoy the superb performances by these highly talented persons.
