Storyline

Buck Richards lives in untidiness on a lonely ranch with a slovenly Chinaman as a cook. He is too much engrossed in his affairs to realize the loneliness or meagerness of his life until he is accidentally visited by a homesteader with a neat, wholesome wife and babies. This brisk, orderly woman proceeds to straighten up his home. He feels, for the first time, the potential thrill of fatherhood and the lack of his lonely life. He finds a bright, capable young woman on his next trip to town, and marries her. She grows to like him, but he seems so completely absorbed in his business affairs that a misunderstanding arises. Finally she feels that he no longer loves her, and goes back to her old life of service at a cheap restaurant in a frontier town. But the thing not counted upon comes to pass, and, as she sits one day with her own baby cooing in her arms, she feels that its busy father has the right to know of its existence.
