Trivia

Certain characters from both the anime and the manga have the same names and faces but different origins to their stories. (I.e., in the manga Homunculi can only be made by Father. In the anime, they're the result of failed human transmutation. Etc.) The Elric brothers' father Hohenheim, is unique among these characters as his origins were vastly different from either story and his name was different. In this anime, Hohenheim of light was the first Alchemist to create a Philospher's stone and began jumping bodies in order to live longer. In the manga and second anime, Von Hohenheim was a slave who was "gifted" with an immortal body through the Philospher's stone that was bestowed upon him by Father. See more »

The Greatest Anime Series I Have Seen
18 October 2005 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

It has been 2 weeks since I have finished this series and the ending is still lingering with me. I heard that this was an excellent series from a friend so I decided to check it out myself. Well, all I can say is that FMA has exceeded all my expectations and have become my favorite anime in recent years. It has actually surpassed my other favorites including Neon Genesis, Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, Escaflowne, GTO, and even Gungrave which is second on my list. The writer and director of this series has such a wonderful imagination. I just don't know how they come up w/ these ideas. The voice acting (Japanese), writing, animation, music, and action is awesome. I just can't praise FMA enough. This is definitely a journey worth taking for all those looking for a good anime.
