One in My List of Favorite Nicktoons Series!
Benjamin_40611 July 2008
OK, here is my personal list of top Nicktoons shows as in today:

1. All Grown Up/SpongeBob SquarePants

2. My Life as a Teenage Robot

3. Invader Zim

4. CATSCRATCH/Rugrats

Notice a word with only capital letters? That means this is the Nick show I'm going to talk about.

"Catscratch" is basically a simple but great animated comedy about three wealthy cats - Mr. Blik, Gordon, and Waffles - who get into weird and REALLY surreal situations, from attempting to join Human Kimberely's slumber party for root beer to saving a planet of slugs from the evil spaceship. This is one Nick show that you will simply have your funny bone tickled sooner or later! The theme song is catchy and memorable. Voice actors - including Wayne Knight from the "Seinfield" franchise - brings the characters to fresh life with very quirky personalities. The stories are enjoyable (fans' episodes would be "King of All Root Beer" and "Gordon's Lucky Claw"). And the humor is all done in some style of Earthworm Jim.

So in conclusion, "Catscratch" is one of the Nicktoons series, like "Invader Zim" and "MLAATR", which becomes very, very popular all over the world in just 3 seasons or less.

Very funny - this show is great!
aw199517 December 2005
Normally, a lot of the new Nicktoons on Nickelodeon are pretty stupid and bland, but Catscratch is a brilliant show and very funny, too! It's a bit like Spongebob, you know, how it's just two 15-minute cartoons in one episode, and how it really has no plot at all. It's one of the best Cartoon son Nickelodeon since Spongebob, too.

Catscratch isn't just fun for kids, though. My parents even get some good laughs out of it. The characters are lovable and cute, even if they don't really look a lot like cats.

Again, this is a brilliant show. It's halairious! I definitely think you should give it a try. Watch it once, and if you don't like it, you must just really be hard to please!

Not since Spongebob Squarepants have i seen a greater cartoon on TV. The colors are great, the voices could't be better, the characters are so original, great great cartoon. Hope Nickolodean continues to develop this cartoon. Hope the Season DVD comes out soon!!! I love cartoons like this and I hope more people tune in to se this great cartoon. It is very hard to find the Season DVD, so if somebody finds a store that is selling it please let me Know. The only Catscratch merchandise available on Nick Shop is a great lookin shirt, but very very very expensive!!! If you love Spongebob; and who doesn''t?; you'll love Catscratch too!

An Amazing Show That Deserves A Reboot!

The characters are cute, funny, and I'm surprised that this show didn't get the ratings Nickelodeon wanted back in the mid 2000's.

Pathetic, Annoying and Boring
ian-121116 December 2006
We don't have this on television in England but I walked it over the Internet on YouTube. It's dumb, immature and boring! This is from the creator of "Earthworm Jim" Douglas TenNapel, I never got into that cartoon but I must admit it better than this. The cartoonist hasn't done anything for years since now. For Doug TenNapel, this is a comeback travesty and an all time low! The story is about three cats who inherit a house and lots of money off their dead old lady master. They are argumentative and keep on disagreeing on what their want to spend their money on. "BORING"! The animation is dreadful. The main characters are meant to be cats, right? But they don't look nothing like cats! Just weird animal monster-looking creatures with big mouths, pointed teeth and bulgy eyes! The human and other animal characters are also drawn real ugly! The theme song is terrible and irritating! Also the stories are lame and are most probably copied from older shows. It surprised me how this show got 7.5/10 votes of other IMDb viewers. Television really isn't what is used to be! But now most of them is dumb, cheaply made and boring. Some of you on the website might not agree with me well I'm sorry but this is a total waste of money and a complete and utter waste of your time and feel glad that Britain don't have too tolerate this crap (oh yeah, if you have digital you have to) but I don't, so it not my problem! Loser! 2/10 (and it's very lucky to get that because I've given other shows worst!).

What a funny show!
mitsubishizero16 June 2018
I remember this show as a kid and I thought it was funny! The theme song was catchy, the characters were likable and the episodes were great! The cartoon's about 3 rich cats; the pompous, paranoid Mr. Blick (Wayne Knight), laid back, scottish-accented Gordan (Rob Paulson), and child-like Waffle (Kevin McDonald) who's catchphrases are "Spleen" and "Woohoo". They get into several misadventures and sometimes joining them in the chaos is their young neighbor obsessed with unicorns named Kimberly (Liliana Mumy) and their deadpan butler Hovis (Marice LaMarche). If you like loud, surreal humor than you'll like this show. Enough said.

a fun show
theguys110 July 2005
This is a show that will brighten up your day and I believe it is the funniest show since Spongebob. This show is original because it gives you a different idea of cats. Usually, shows describe cats as sassy creatures, but then comes the one Nickelodeon show that makes them seem as normal as dogs, even though they don't really look like cats. Nickelodeon down't have many great shows, but this is a great one that will have you cracking up and begging for more. My favorite character is Waffle mainly because he reminds me of Ed in Ed, Edd n Eddy. No cartoon will ever top this one and I'm sure of that. I give this show 10 out of 10 stars.

This cartoon is one Nick's best cartoons ever!

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show! Mr. Blick, Gordon, and Waffle are cats so different from each other, yet they refer to themselves collectively as 'brothers.' I often find myself trying to imitate the tired, sighing accent of their butler, Hovis, or even the Scottish borough of Gordon. There should be more episodes made about Human Kimberly. The episode about the cats disguising themselves as pre-teen girls to gain admittance to Human Kimberly's slumber party in order to get their thirsty paws on their favorite drink, Rootbeer, is a hilarious classic. We can't drink rootbeer in our house now without either doing the Catscratch voices or the Hanson Brothers from the movie 'Slap Shot.' Future classic. Where can I get the first two seasons on DVD??

An underrated classic worthy of a revival
nickscheetz20 June 2019
With it's fast-paced animation, sharp as a butcher knife voice cast, hilarious jokes, spot on dialogue, and likable characters, what more could you ask for? It's a shame that this show only lasted 2 seasons because from what I've seen, this show is hilarious. It's like the 3 stooges they were rich and made by Nickelodeon, Blik is the competitive, short-tempered, successor who tries to act better than everyone like Moe, Waffle is the dim-witted stooge who uses lots of big vocabulary despite being stupid like Curly (Patrick from SpongeBob did this a lot too), and Gordon basically does what Larry does. It's quite interesting how 3 cats own their own multi million dollar life of luxury. I guess their deceased owners handed their investments to them when no one else would. But I guess it wouldn't be worth inserting logic into a show where cats are billionaires whilst humans still exist around them.

One of the Most Underrated of all the Nicktoons
travelertoon8 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This review will look at a nicktoon called Catscratch. Compared to other Nicktoons like Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, or even Invader Zim. It's not as well known. This cartoon is about three cats that live in a mansion, and have wacky adventures. Along with other characters like the butler Harold, and a girl named Kimberly. This show is super underrated, and is actually really good, and funny.

The animation is okay. It's the standard for 2000s cartoons. But the animation can be really good in it's action and adventures. The stories are what I want to talk about. They are really great and creative. They can take a regular problem and turn it into a wacky adventure. Like with Mr. Blik (one of the main characters) trying to win a barbecue contest by going to the moon so that he can fry his barbecue. This cartoon is also really funny. One good joke is when Waffle and Mr. Blik are in a unicorn costume. Waffle wants to leave a trail of eggs. But Mr. Blik disagrees because he is in the unicorn's head costume.

Let's focus on the characters now. We have our three main cats. Gordon, Waffle, and Mr. Blik. Gordon is the cat with a Scottish accent and is a good friend with Kimberly. Waffle is the silliest and happiest cat of the three. Mr. Blik is the funny and sarcastic cat. Some other characters are Harold the butler. Who seems serious, but can join in the fun, and Kimberly. A girl who tags along with the cats adventures.

The downside of this show is that it lasted only 1 season. I think it deserves a revival, and more attention. This is probably not only one of the most underrated Nicktoons of all time. But also one of the most underrated cartoons of all time. There are cartoons I like better so I give it a 9/10.

Very Cute Cartoon
MoonSphinx22 September 2005
"Catscratch" is a cute cartoon. I think I like it because it reminds me of "Ren and Stimpy" -- but its humor is watered-down in comparison. "Catscratch"'s humor is just crude and violent enough, like "Looney Tunes", to keep a viewer's attention. "Catscratch" is not overly shocking or offensive.

The premise behind the show is that 3 cats suddenly inherit a fortune from their deceased owner. They get the mansion, the money, and the butler. The lovable characters Mr. Blick, Hovis, and Waffle possess the same brotherly-camaraderie that the three stooges shared (Moe, Larry, and Curly). Mr. Blick is the Moe character, Hovis the Larry, and Waffle is the crazy Curly doppelganger. The hijinks they get into are hilarious.

I love the little newts that sing the theme song introducing the show. They make me want to sing along.

This don't need to be taken off
tommypezmaster12 September 2007
Catscratch is the best thing to come out of Nickeloden, including Wayne Knight. This show doesn't just appeal to Maoris and PI's. some people love it, and they're all aussies. At first glimpse I admit it seems a little crude, but it grows enormously on you. Also, to correct something that one of the other critics has said In_Correct (Tv.com) doesn't say "Does that mean you're homo now?" he says "Does that mean you're homo, owww?" This is his phrase in the show. Mr. Blik is, i think, the funniest of all like Peww-Weww's Playhouse

Firstly, I'll admit that the early episode were a bit good. But after a while the episodes became great! And just when the series had found it's surreal, whacky ...Nickelodeon cancels it!

I know Nick is meant for kids, but every once in a while a brilliant show appears that can be enjoyed by teenagers and adults. These shows include Mr. Bean the Animated Series, Charlie Brown, Pelswick, Rocko's Modern Life (at times), and Invader Zim. All of these must have been considered too good, with the exception of CatDog, 'cause Nick felt the need to cancel them.

What I like the famous final episode, where Gordon fight a duck.

I'd also like to see a DVD, with plenty of audio-commentaries and behind-the-scenes docos, and including the final episode.

But of course, what I'd definitely like to see is the show come back on the air. Wake up NICK!

I wish there was a list somewhere on the internet with all the gag closing-credits. That would be great.

A funny Nickelodeon show for cat-lovers
ja_kitty_7120 September 2022
As a cat lover, I was drawn to this animated series, and it's another Nickelodeon favorite. Even if there were disgusting scenes, I still wish the show was on DVD or Blu-ray. I vaguely remember taping episodes, but I don't remember when I stopped. Of course, I was lucky to find the complete series on Amazon Prime Video. So I "binge-watched" the whole series last Sunday, because the series was going to leave Amazon Prime Video. The only thing that bothered me was episode #2 (Part B); the audio was not synced when it was ending.

One other thing I'd like to point out is that I did not know that our feline leads were in a comic created by the series' creator, Doug TenNapel, called "Gear." In fact, it's more like a "loose" adaptation of the comic. So, for the most part, it's a funny show and another favorite TV series.

Catscratch? More like the BESTscratch.
jaren-2799213 April 2022
When I was a kid, I didn't really watch Catscratch. Probably because I was so busy when I was a kid. But one day, I was trying to find old TV shows that I can watch during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I actually found a few good ones. And when I got to Catscratch, I decided to give that one a try, and it was excellent!

Catscratch is about three Cat brothers that are living the rich life when their owner, Mrs. Cramdilly passed away along with Audrey (The Cats' mother). Gordon Quid and Waffle are my favorite characters. Gordon thinks he's from Scotland, despite the fact that he's really not, and has a crush on a human named Kimberly (Which I think is the saddest thing I've ever heard.). Waffle is a funny idiot who loves to say "Splee!" and armpit fart. However, there are some times that Waffle shows some intelligence.

It's also kind of sad that the show was canceled after 20 episodes (40 episodes of counting the segments). I don't know why they've canceled Catscratch, that show is fantastic! It's also kind of sad that they didn't release the complete series on DVD nor streaming... yet. I am only able to watch the whole series online. But I want the series to be in high quality and original audio, not blurry quality and high-pitched audio.

Well, 20 (Or 40) episodes or not, thank you anyway, Doug TenNapel for creating Catscratch. But please release the complete series on DVD or Paramount+!

Newts In Space!
angeleyes110510 July 2005
This show is so funny! period. Some people may not agree, but I think this cartoon has some great potential.

The voice actors are amazing with Wayne Knight as the dastardly Mr. Blick (I love his important hat!), Kevin McDonald as the weird and wacky Waffles, and of course my favorite voice actor, Rob Paulsen, as the honorable and loyal Gordon. With Maurice LaMarche as Hovis the butler, this show has great people that will make it last. Plus, the stories and one-liners are way to funny. But the only way you'll know for sure is if you check it out for yourself.

Watch it. Know it. Love it!

CATSCRATCH! :)

10 Stars, for sure.

Black girl agrees! Really great show!
Caramelhyena2 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Catscratch is a wonderfully humorous show that our times need!

With most animated shows gearing toward *tweens* or anime-fanatics, thiswould be a cure for the craving of the simpler cartoons.

This show is about three cat brothers, Mr. Bilk,Waffle, and Gordon inheriting a mansion that their previous owner had. The epsiodes pretty much pick up, but their very random , meaning you won't have to worry about missing one episode and losing touch! The show was created

by Doug Tenpal, whom was the creator of the Earthworm Jim series. So if you see this show one then give it a try you might like it. I hope one day it becomes popular like Spongebob. *hates show*

*Big Gordon fan!* ^^

A reincarnation of InvaderZIM, Ren and Stimpy, and any good old school Nick shows.
someoneunknown1030 July 2005
This show is absolutely BRILLIANT. I am a HUGE InvaderZim fan, and hearing Kevin's voice as Waffle dragged me into the show. The humor is light, definitely for kids/teens alike, and the characters are brilliant! Mr. Blik is the perfect Ren/Cat (Catdog), Waffle is the perfect Dog (Catdog), and Gordon is a mix of a wiser Stimpy/Dib. The theme song is catchy, and the story line is a original. Yeah, cliché characters, but they're twisted around into old school Nick style! <3 It comes second in my heart next to InvaderZIM. It's not like all the crappy adultish cartoons/shows they have on Nick now.. a definite Nicktoons treat.. It's a wonderful show, I definitely recommend it! 10 stars!
