Many of the people involved with the film are members of the Immediate Theatre Company, and alumni of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The film was part of the official selection at the following film festivals: IFP Los Angeles International Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Miami International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival, The Louis Vuitton Hamptons International Film Festival, Rome International Film Festival, Greenwich Film Festival, Film Fest New Haven, Ashland Independent Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, Asiana International Short Film Festival in Seoul, South Korea, Gen-Art's New York Film Festival, Gen-Art "Shorts In The Park" Miami Film Festival, and Gen-Art's Chicago Film Celebration.
The film was originally written in English, then translated into Mandarin Chinese, and then re-translated from the English original into Cantonese, before the film was shot, and then, after editing, the dialogue had to be translated back into English for the addition of the English subtitles.
The filmmakers were inspired by many of the films of auteur Kar-Wai Wong, most specifically his film In the Mood for Love (2000).
