Due to the budget actors had to pull double duty. In the scene where Hobo meets Anubis, actor Don Sandeen plays both roles as does Christopher Kann who doubles for Anubis and the Hobo in certain shots.
Although the film was shot in a forest and the actors were climbing on various pieces of equipment (including Anubis who wasn't really able to see) no one got hurt and everyone did their own stunts.
Shooting the forest scenes at night in early April 2004 on Martha's Vineyard proved difficult for the cast and crew, temperatures got down to 30 degrees and would either snow or have freezing rain. The cast was able to stay in their cars to keep warm while the small crew would set up for the next shot.
The heading on the last page that Jen is scanning in the spell book to send Anubis back reads, "COMOEDIANTEN" the page itself is a copy of the playbill from the German Faust comedy, "The Life and Death of the Great Arch-Sorcerer", 1688.
The Nerf "popper" that Jen fires at Anubis was actually found at the barn above the doorway and was only going to be used in an "additional" scene but the director liked it so much he expanded the gag and kept it in.
