The Kite Runner (2007) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A young boy is beaten, restrained, and raped by a larger bully. It however is depicting more implicitly than graphically. The boy is held down and his pants are pulled off; we then briefly see an older boy thrusting on top of him and moaning, and the victim's pained face. The boy is later seen with blood dripping from his trousers.

Sex is solicited in a scene where a Soviet soldier requires that a woman have sex with him in order for a truck to pass, but the scene never happens.

There is a brief implication that a man is using a young boy as a sex slave; the man forces the boy to dance suggestively for him before they are interrupted.

Violence & Gore

A young boy is beaten, restrained, and raped by a larger bully. It however is depicting more implicitly than graphically. The boy is held down and his pants are pulled off; we then briefly see an older boy thrusting on top of him and moaning, and the victim's pained face. The boy is later seen with blood dripping from his trousers.

There's a brief scene of a woman being stoned to death as a halftime show during a soccer match. Patches of blood are shown on her body. Very disturbing.

The main character is brutally beaten by a Taliban leader. The leader is then shot in the eye with a slingshot by a young boy to defend the main character. It is implied the impact burst his eyeball as the leader cradles his eye socket with his hand and thick blood poors through his fingers.

Profanity

Three uses of "fuck" and a couple of characters do say derogatory comments to or about people of Hazara descent. (E.g., bully making fun of a Hazara boy; the father in law of the main character is not particularly pleased with a Hazara boy coming into his family.)

There are scenes of the main character's father and his friend drinking liquor. The father also smokes.

The implicit rape scene of a boy (between 10-12 yrs old) and the stoning scene are not easy to watch. Another intense scene is when the main character is beaten by a Taliban leader.
