Sex & Nudity

  • There is a scene in which Tom and his girlfriend Adele engage in a kinky asphyxiation sex game.
  • While passionately kissing each other, Tom still has his trousers on and Adele is seen wearing a bra and panties so there is no graphic nudity, Adele wraps a length of rope around Tom's neck and tightens it while at the same time Tom wraps one of Adele's stockings around her neck and tightens it as the continue kissing each other.
  • Zack and Adele are seen having sex, the camera is placed high above the two with Adele on top of Zack, her bare bum is seen but her body obscures Zack so he is not seen nude.

Violence & Gore

  • While not particuarly gory or graphic Spirit Trap is a moderately violent film.
  • A roof tile falls onto a man down below, the impact is now shown but the sound effect of it hitting him is heard and there is a shot of blood splattering on the snow covered ground.
  • Nick tries to start an old clock, in doing so he cuts his finger which he raises up to show everyone, there is a small amount of blood seen.
  • Adele slaps Tom around the face, Tom slaps her back and then Adele slaps him yet again.
  • Tom grabs Adele's hair and forcibly pulls her head back.
  • Tom punches Adele in the face which knocks her to the ground, she is seen with a bloody nose and blood smeared across her top lip. Tom then grabs her by the hair and by the throat, he forcibly lifts her up and drags across the room.
  • There is a shot of Jenny smothering her mum with a pillow.
  • Edmund shoots a woman in the head, no detail is show but there is a shot of blood splattering on the face of a clock.
  • Tom grabs Jenny around the neck, Nick bashes Tom over the head with a candlestick and he falls to the floor.
  • Upon going back to where Tom was Nick and Jenny find a large pool of blood and spots of blood going up the stairs.
  • Tom attacks Nick with a hammer, Nick manages to get out of the way but Tom headbutts him which knocks him to the floor. Tom is also seen with heads wounds and a blood stained shirt.
  • Jenny throws plaster dust into the face of Tom, Tom then attacks Jenny with a hammer but misses. Jenny finds Adele's dead body.
  • Tom punches Jenny around the face, she is seen with a bruised nose.
  • Tom tries to shoot Jenny but the gun backfires and blows his tumb off, there is a medium shot of Tom's blood covered hand with the tumb missing, no explicit detail is seen.
  • Jenny punches Tom in the back and pushes him over onto the floor, Jenny then pushes the large clock over onto Tom. The clocks pendulum shoots out of the case and with the weight of the clock behind it impales itself in Tom's stomach. There's a brief closeup of the pendulum entering Tom's stomach and another shot of it embeded in there with blood around the wound.
  • Tom grabs Jenny by the ankle so Nick hit's his wrist twice with a hammer, there are close-ups of the two hammer impacts and shots of his bloody lower arm with the wounds seen.
  • There is a shot of Tom laying on the floor convulsing in pain with the pendulum impaled in his stomach, the camera slowly zooms out.
  • Throughout the film there are several flashback sequences which depict Edmund being killed, they are very breif almost subliminal. When the full full sequence is shown there are some shots of Edmund laying on the floor with a bloddied body, there is a very breif close-up of his hand with nails hammered through it, there are sound effects of people hammering more nails into his body although the action itself is not seen and Edmund is heard to be screaming throughout the sequence.

Profanity

  • Frequent use of strong profanity and bad language.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Tom is a drug dealer and drugs are mention throughout and there are scenes of him handling and weighting small packets of white powder.
  • Both Tom and Adele (Emma Catherwood) are seen to smoke cigarettes.
  • Tom is often seen drinking Vodka straight from the bottle.
  • Tom is seen high on drugs in his bedroom, he then reachs for a container and takes some pills out which he swallows with some Vodka straight from the bottle.
  • Tom is seen high on drugs again this time in the attic, he is seen to have a line of white powder across the back of his hand, he raises his hand to his nose and sniff's the drugs.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Spirit Trap is a film about a haunted house and feature several sequences which deliberately set out to frighten.
