User Reviews

A bad copy Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels but funny in parts.

As is the case with all sequels you know it can never be as good as the original, hence you always go in with lowered expectations and thats exactly what i did.

While the originals soul was completely Indian, this movie however being a copy of A very British Film loses out on completely on its Indian soul. The original tackled genuine Indian problems the job problems, the housing problems, parents expectations etc etc this movie has none of the Indian soul.

The movie brings back the main trio for the film and expected they do not disappoint as far as acting is concerned. In fact the entire cast including the side characters give good performances and this kind of makes some of the slapstick jokes bearable.

This movie however focuses more on Akshay then any of the others.

Rimmi Sen and Bipasha provide the eye candy but Bipasha is completely wasted.

Rajpal Yadav and Johny Lever the kings of annoying comedy and repetitive/boring acts are together in this film and are at their annoying best. It was difficult to diagnose who was more annoying.

The movie starts of as one movie and soon after the interval it becomes another movie (a copy of lock stock). This means that the movie is 2hrs 45mins long.

The songs are lack lustre and boring and typical Himmeshbhai songs, especially in the second half they serve as a big annoyance.

The jokes are completely and utterly slapstick so much so that there are scenes where Kurtas are torn and pants are pulled down. SO YOU HAVE TO LEAVE (AND I MEAN LEAVE) YOUR SENSES AT HOME UNLIKE THE FIRST MOVIE. Hell you have to forget things like ordinary people have no problem in selling drugs worth crores without any guilt and that a person can carry 150 200 kilos of drugs and run around with it as if it were weightless.

However some of the jokes were hilarious the scenes in the beginning such as where Bipasha comes the trios home to collect the money was brilliant, also an intelligent joke (and something some people will identify with) was the scene where Akshay has a 1000 rupee note and Rimmi is forced to pay for everything since no one has change for it, I knew 2 people in school who were like that and i couldn't stop laughing in that scene. In fact the beginning of the movie was a bunch of funny scenes.

The movie also has some hilarious one liners most of which were in the first half (you can check them in quotes).

The movie went downhill from there with the circus scene being just that, a circus, with some of the cheapest slapstick in Hindi movies in recent times you had torn kurtas, pants pulled down, a gorilla in a costume etc etc.

The advantage of copying such a brilliant film such as lock stock is that it is impossible to make a copy that is not funny and thus even a long slapstick movie like this watchable albeit in the correct mindset.

A cheap slapstick that requires you to forget that you even had senses to enjoy it. Be prepared to watch this movie in this state and you will enjoy it.(in some parts)

A comedy to be watched with caution and rock bottom expectations, do watch it if you are prepared for the above.

+s one liners, some brilliant scenes, good first half, good acting, saw it for 90 in matinée show (maybe this will work for you there's no way you can pay 200 and like this movie)

+/-s big focus on Akshay, caricaturish baddies

-s length, songs, non-originality, super cheap slapstick, bad second half, requires absolute numbness of senses, Johny Lever and Rajpal Yadav together total 4.5/5 on 10
