Worst of the Bettie Page Biographical Films!
alanbobet8 May 2006
This so-called film is in my honest opinion, the worst of the three Bettie Page biographical films made so far these past three years, including Nico B's flawed but watchable Bettie Page:Dark Angel and especially, Mary Harron's excellent The Notorious Bettie Page which is the best of all three Bettie Page films. Both Nico B's and Mary Harron's Bettie Page films do a nice job in recreating the New York 1950's era when Bettie Page became a pinup & bondage star and they both cover Bettie's most important events in her life in New York, Miami & Hollywood with location shooting on both these low budget independent films, but most importantly, Paige Richards in Bettie Page:Dark Angel and especially Gretchen Mol in The Notorious Bettie Page both look and act convincingly as Bettie, unlike Sarah Masters in Mr. Flores' film on Bettie, who is too old to play the part and really looks like Paula Klaw than Bettie with an atrociously phony Tennesee accent. Bettie Page:Uncensored came from Mr. Flores' original stage play of the same name and the way this film which was shoddily filmed on video, especially the badly shot & choreographed bondage and pinup sequences, it does look like a filmed play with campy bad performances by the whole cast, If you want to see a really good film about Bettie Page, stick with The Notorious Bettie Page or to a slightly lesser degree, Bettie Page:Dark Angel and please skip this so called film that doesn't do the real Bettie Page's story any justice!
