Mondo Bringing Animators Together For Multi-Channel YouTube Network

7 December 2012 10:23 AM, PST | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

Mondo Media's 1.29 million subs and 1.35 billion views are a testament to the Internet's love of animated silliness. Happy Trees Friends has captivated viewing audiences with its shock humor since the Windows 98 days, and newer offerings such as Dick Figures have allowed the channel to stay continuously relevant. Mondo is taking its prowess for online cartoons to the next level. The studio, already a part of the YouTube Original Channels Initiative, is launching a multi-channel network called Mondo Mojo. It will feature some of the web's wackiest animators past and present, and will have a home on the Mondo Media website. Some of the channels included in the Mojo network are: Rug Burn, a new partnership between Titmouse (creators of several Adult Swim favorites such as Metalocalypse, Black Dynamite, and The Venture Bros.) and Six Point Harness, best known for the aforementioned Dick Figures. New Trailer for The ABCs of Death

4 December 2012 1:37 PM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

A red band trailer for The ABCs of Death gave us the first good look at the anthology horror film last month. If you’re looking for more, we have the new green band trailer that was just released. The ABCs of Death is an anthology horror film with 26 short chapters. Each chapter is directed by a different filmmaker, including Ti West, Xavier Gens, Adam Wingard, and more:

“Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABC’s Of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children’s educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death. »

The Paranormal Ghost Hunting Comedy “Ghost Trek” Arrives Online

22 October 2012 5:27 PM, PDT | FamousMonsters of Filmland | See recent Famous Monsters of Filmland news »

Dread Central has been airing webisodes of Ghost Trek, a faux reality show lampooning all of the ghost hunting shows on TV today (like a Grave Encounters comedy). They began on 10/8 and now have 3 webisodes up, with a fourth coming next Monday. We recently got our hands on the press release that describes the show and links you to a featurette, trailer and an interview with some cast members from the WWE.

If I’m watching it, it’s because it stars the little zombie girl from The Walking Dead, Addy Miller. I have the trailer below, and the press release is below for your perusal, with links to a sizzle reel, interview with the cast, and a featurette on Ghost Trek: The Kinsey Report. Enjoy!

'Ntsf:sd:suv' sends Paul Scheer to prison -- Exclusive Video

Sooner or later, all the great TV cops have to go undercover behind bars. Charlie’s Angels did it. The new Charlie’s Angels did it. That guy from Prison Break did it, I think. Except he wasn’t a cop. Or was he? I didn’t watch Prison Break. But I do watch Ntsf:sd:suv, the manic procedural spoof created by Paul Scheer which is currently tearing up whatever brain cells you have left after watching Childrens Hospital every Thursday. Scheer will be taking part in a Childrens Hospital/Ntsf panel tomorrow at New York Comic-Con, and EW has obtained »

"Squidbillies" Flounders in the Adult Swim Lineup

7 August 2012 2:48 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

There are some Adult Swim shows best enjoyed with a clear mind, like Children's Hospital, Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros., and The Boondocks, but others seem to cater to those who tune in after drinking and smoking themselves into a place where thoughts are best left at the door. For that audience, you have a variety of shows which dabble in low-brow silliness like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse, and Squidbillies. The latter is also one of the newest, but even so that puts it in its seventh season, with their sixth just now arriving on DVD. It’s all of the low-hanging jokes about white trash and the south you’d expect from the show, and as always it’s only going to be funny to a very limited number of people, specifically the ones who think Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy would be better if they »

The best cult shows on TV – What's your #1?

This week's Entertainment Weekly is getting a lot of press (press getting press — only in the Internet age) because it's the first with a cover featuring a British TV show.

Doctor Who certainly has earned its place, although I'm a little surprised it hasn't been featured before. What finally got The Doctor on the cover is his place as a central figure in one of EW's "25 Greatest Cult TV Shows From the Past 25 Years."

As you might expect, EW's list includes some of AfterEllen.com's favorite shows and favorite women. Here are my thoughts on just a few of the picks.

Beauty and the Beast (#25)

Full disclosure: I kind of hated this show. Sure, the idea that beauty is only fur deep is all noble and stuff, but beastly Vincent seemed to me like a master manipulator, »

Cartoon Network brings “Black Dynamite” animated series to Adult Swim

17 July 2012 7:25 AM, PDT | ChannelGuideMag | See recent ChannelGuideMag news »

By Matthew Grimm Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult Swim block goes into lulls where it seems to bide its time between cool new ‘toons, over-hyped one-season wonders and new seasons of its stately franchises (still waiting on Season 5 of One of the Best Things on TV, The Venture Brothers), often filling the gap with live-action Dadaist crap by some guy who knows the Tim & Eric Awesome Show yayhoos. I’m not sure what category Black Dynamite, the animated adaptation of Scott Sanders, Michael Jai White and Byron Minns’ over-the-top 2009 blaxploitation-spoofing feature film, will fit into just yet — other [...] »

Tibits that came out of Comic Con:

16 July 2012 2:47 PM, PDT | doorQ.com | See recent doorQ.com news »

Apparently, Peter Jackson can –if Warners give them more money- turn his upcoming The Hobbit into three films instead of the planned two. Asked about the reports, Jackson tells Hitfix that “We have certainly been talking to the studio about some of the material we can’t film, and we’ve been asking them so we can do a bit more filming next year. I don’t know what would come of that, whether it’d be extended editions or whatnot. But those discussions are ongoing.” While this might make some bean counters and shareholders happy, would it be necessary? While studios have found profit in expanding the final movie in a franchise, at what point does it become just a way to score more cash than add material that does not need to be added? That being said, a studio spokesman told Variety that there are “no planned or »

Jim Littler from ComicBookMovie.com had it easy when picking out his highlights, saying, "It’s a no-brainer what we'll be interested in seeing at Comic-Con this year… All the Comic Book Movie oriented panels--with a particular interest in Disney's/Marvel's Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 offerings, as well as Man Of Steel!!!  Plus, a personal favorite is The Venture Bros." Matt Goldberg is going to be at Comic-Con covering Hall H for Collider.com. "I'm jazzed to see Django Unchained and Iron Man 3, but not so much because of the footage since that will all be released in due time. I'm more excited to see Quentin Tarantino and Robert Downey Jr. since big personalities on the Hall H stage always makes for a good time," he says. San Diego Comic-Con 2012: Hopes And Dreams From Us And Our Friends!

Believe it or not, Comic-Con is upon us in less than a week. That means you only have a few days left to plan your geek-out strategy of choice. Which panels are you going to? Which exclusives are you picking up? In essence, what are you pumped for?

For me, it's all about television this year, as I already made clear on MTV Movies Blog. I'm as excited to learn more about "Iron Man 3" and the future of the Marvel movie universe as the next guy, but I'm really dying to see what the "Fringe," "Game of Thrones" and "Breaking Bad" teams have lined up for their fans, too.

And if you're a "Walking Dead" fan, this year should be nuts. The 100th issue of the comic book hits during Comic-Con, there's going to be an obstacle course at nearby Petco Park, and, oh yeah, a little something about »

Comic-Con 2012: What We And The Movie Blogosphere Can't Wait To See

6 July 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Comic-Con 2012 is rapidly approaching, and you know what that means: wish lists! Everyone on the MTV Movies team is pumped for a whole host of panels and events this year, but if I'm being honest, it's not the big screen that has me most excited. I'm keeping my eye firmly on the television panels, where "Fringe" will have its last-ever Comic-Con presence; "Game of Thrones" will tease us for season three in all of its gut-wrenching glory; and, if we're all good little boys and girls, we'll get a taste of the sweet blue stuff that is "Breaking Bad." (If that panel shows even an iota of the season five premiere's cold open, I guarantee that people will go up in smoke quicker than Tuco Salamanca's drug den.)

But that's just what I'm looking forward to at Comic-Con this year. Keep reading to find out what all of our friends »

Comic-Con 2012: Schedule of Headliners

The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.

For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.

See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know. »
