Parents Guide for
Moolaadé (2004) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A man has intense sex with his wife under the covers, with her breasts clearly visible.

A woman has a bath outside with her chest visible from the breasts up.

A woman has a shower at night (it's dark and shot from a distance so nothing is visible).

A group of pre-pubescent girls dance in a circle topless.

Violence & Gore

A man beats his wife in the centre of the village with a whip for a couple of minutes. Eventually another man comes and stops him, but he is forced to the ground.

Profanity

A man is called a mother-f***er twice by another group of men.

A man accuses a second man of being a paedophile for intending to marry an 11 year-old girl. He also calls him a "s***ty little fellow" and says, "no s***". The second man tells him to f*** off.

A man calls a group of women b***ches.

A man tells a pair of women to "shut the f*** up".

A woman snorts something in the middle of a conversation, though it isn't said what it is and it isn't focussed on.

A woman smokes a pipe.

The whole film is about genital mutilation in female children, so a mature theme. There is one instance of a mutilation ceremony being carried out (non-graphic, but we see the face of the girl who is crying for help). Later on we see a girl being led by her mother to be 'purified' and she is screaming "No! I don't want to be cut!" etc., but we don't actually see the ceremony. In a daytime scene the children visualise the women gathering around them at night with masks on (briefly).
