The series was called "The Mighty Boosh" because of a haircut Michael Fielding once had that his Spanish friend called "the mighty bush". Noel Fielding and their friends found it amusing and used it as the title.
The show often uses family and friends of the actors as extras. Michael Fielding (who plays Naboo) is the brother of Noel Fielding (who plays Vince), and Fielding's mother and nephew also play two shamans in the show.
There are 100+ different seemingly original similies and figures of speech in the first series alone including "[...] like an extreme bazuka" and "Who are you, Johnny Segment?"
Richard Ayoade was originally cast to play Dickson Banebridge in the unaired pilot however he was changed to Matt Berry. Richard Ayoade later appears as Saboo
