Bought it for a moderately cheap price as I think it didn't sell well, but it ended up being one of my favorite games of the original Playstation.
It is a simple side scroll space shooter where you play as a kind of freelance ace pilot from a lunar city on the moon that takes on just about everybody of the earth defense fleet which is primarily German. You take on the sheer numbers of their horde of enemy fighters with a superior more maneuverable fighter that can take advantage of enemy fighters by stealing their weapons.
As a shooter the gunpod element adds a lot to it. As its not the same powered repeating cannons used over and over, nor just upgrades to the cannons to make them more powerful. Its an model you can see hanging off the bottom/top of your ship with different firing animations for each gunpod (what the game calls stolen enemy weapons).
Lastly the game has got style. Some objects in the environment are destructible, there are multiple paths you can travel, three weapons to start with, unlockable weapons and fighters, cool boss fights, and memorable levels.
Its just an interesting game that totally surprised me when I bought it.
