This 10 million (Danish kroners - little less than 2 million USD) Dogville test was made during 2001 in the pre-production phase of Dogville (2003) to test whether the concept of chalk lines and spare scenery would work. Eventually Lars von Trier was happy with the overall results and he and the producers decided to move forward with the production of the feature film.
