I can't see why this film is rated so poorly on IMDb. Perhaps some of the viewers didn't pay close attention, because if they had they would have recognized the very intelligently way this film was constructed. This is a short film that has you thinking one way and when the entire context for what you've been watching has been presented, you are caught off guard. Any film that manages to fool the viewer like this is a very good film indeed.
The film is done without dialog. Because of this, you make many assumptions. When the guy meets the girl, you assume that he's late and you assume she's an exceptionally demanding and shallow lady. When he seems to give her gift after gift, she seems to just take them and you really hate this young lady. HOWEVER, when you see why and what really has been occurring, the entire film is turned on its ear.
This film is amazing and what's NOT amazing is that it was made by Eva Saks--one of the premier undiscovered (or at least needing to be recognized more often and in bigger ways) young film makers. See any of her films and be prepared to be amazed.
This film is included on a DVD entitled "Shorts: Volume Three". Oddly, I have seen volume One already and Three is definitely much better--though both are worth finding for lovers of short films like myself. You can also find it on Ms. Saks web page.
