Japanese Poster for Tekken

21 December 2009 10:13 AM, PST | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

As of late, there hasn't been any word yet on the distribution plans for the live action adaptation of the popular fighting video game Tekken in North America.  Meanwhile in Japan, the marketing campaign has started to set in motion with the arrival of the teaser poster at the Japanese official site featuring Wushu martial artist Jon Foo (Tom-Yum-Goong) as Jin Kazama on the front.  Kudos goes to costumes designer/make-up department for getting the likeness right.

Based on the long running and highly successful Namco video game franchise of the same name, Tekken is a high-octane, action packed thriller written for the screen by Alan McElroy (Spawn, The Marine) and to be directed by Dwight Little (Anacondas, Murder at 1600) with fight choreography tentatively by Dion Lam (Spider-Man 2, Doom, Red Cliff).

Set in 2039, the film promises non-stop high flying action as the greatest fighters from around the world »

Whatever Happened to 'Tekken'?

1 December 2009 9:45 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Splendid news regarding the upcoming 'Tekken' movie adaptation, unless you’re a fan of the video game series who doesn’t speak German.

According to Variety, Splendid Film has acquired the rights to 'Tekken', along with a number of other fantasy and horror movies, for distribution in the German-speaking territories. The other films include Marcus Nispel’s upcoming Conan; the horror-thriller The Collector, helmed by Marcus Dunstan; and Mr. Nobody, a supernatural thriller starring Val Kilmer.

Dwight Little’s Tekken was the film that really grabbed my attention, since I recall the announcement of it roughly two years ago. It premiered at the American Film Market last month, but its current U.S. distributors — The Weinstein Company, Summit Entertainment, and Crystal Sky Pictures — have remained relatively quiet. Unfortunately, the combination of only a vague U.S. 2010 release date, along with the announcement of an overseas distributor »

Trailer: The King of Fighters

26 November 2009 10:23 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Old school video game fans are not going to be happy with this! A trailer for the live-action adaptation of the classic Snk 2D fighting game The King of Fighters has surfaced online and it looks as though it’s a serious contender for the worst video game-to-film adaptation ever made.

Starring Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard), Will Yun Lee (Elektra), and martial arts expert Ray Park (Darth Maul from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace), The King of Fighters is directed by Gordon Chan, who although was behind the terrible Jackie Chan film The Medallion, also made the much loved Jet Li classic Fist of Legend.

The film’s premise is wildly different from the game it’s based upon. According to Movieset:

The King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe »

Pandorum Review Now Live

28 September 2009 3:59 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Though it's taken a couple of days (thanks to there being no screenings for critics), our review of Overture Films' Pandorum is finally live and kicking! Did it make the cut?

In Pandorum Dennis Quaid (Vantage Point, The Express) and Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma, Alpha Dog) join Cam Gigandet (Never Back Down, Twilight), Cung Le (Tekken, Fighting), newcomer Antje Traue, and director Christian Alvart (Antibodies) to tell the terrifying story of two crew members stranded on a spacecraft who quickly – and horrifically – realize they are not alone. Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the ship. They can’t remember anything: Who are they? What is their mission? With Lt. Payton (Quaid) staying behind to guide him via radio transmitter, Cpl. Bower (Foster »
