Hellboy Reboot Gets a 2019 Release Date

Hellboy Reboot Gets a 2019 Release Date
Hellboy will be making his way back to the big screen in just over a year. Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, who have partnered for the production of the upcoming Hellboy reboot, have locked down a January 11, 2019, release date for the movie. This date was initially reported back in September but, at the time, Lionsgate said that the date was inaccurate and that no date had been decided on. Apparently, they liked the date anyway and have placed Hellboy as the first highly-anticipated movie to be released in 2019.

January, historically, has been something of a dumping ground for studios. However, in recent years, more and more blockbuster-level movies are being released and studios are having a tougher time cramming them into the summer movie season or desirable holiday release dates. So, what used to be a wholly terrible month for movie fans has seen more quality releases in recent years. Hellboy

From 'Shape of Water' to Silver Surfer: How Doug Jones Created His Creatures

From 'Shape of Water' to Silver Surfer: How Doug Jones Created His Creatures
Doug Jones can clearly recall his first day filming The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro's hand-crafted aquatic fairy tale in which the 57-year-old actor plays a nameless amphibian man who falls for Sally Hawkins' mute cleaning lady in 1960s Baltimore. "We started with a scene in which … I'm chained to a cement block on my knees and being tortured and prodded by Michael Shannon," Jones says. "My first day on set was going through the makeup and costume process, then ending up on my knees on concrete

Rotten Tomatoes Reveals The 50 Best Superhero Films Of All-Time

Superheroes: fictional characters doing impossible things in implausible costumes. Why is society so fascinated by them, though?

Well, for one, they inspire us, reassure us, and certainly entertain us. They also provide a platform for storytelling that’s epic in scale – often allowing for sweeping sci-fi or historical drama, alongside intimate tales of relationships and familial bonds. As such, it’s hardly surprising that the world of film adopts – and occasionally spawns – so many of these characters as its own.

The potential for these crusaders to draw in audiences has been explored and expanded further than anyone could have imagined back when Superman And The Mole-Men became the first superhero movie to hit cinemas in 1951. Since then, filmmakers have continually mined the realms of comic books, graphic novels, animation, TV, and even conceived their own original creations, all in search of that most elusive of achievements: A good superhero flick.

Hellboy comes to Injustice 2 with new gameplay trailer

Injustice 2 continues to roll out its Dlc characters and next up is Dark Horse’s Hellboy. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have released a gameplay trailer for the upcoming character, showing off several of his moves against DC’s heroes and villains. Check out the trailer below…

Created by Mike Mignola, Hellboy is a half-demon that was summoned from Hell to Earth when he was a baby by Nazi occultists, but was saved by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm. Afterward, Bruttenholm founded the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, which Hellboy worked for to capture and dispose of evil supernatural entities and monsters. Despite his appearance, Hellboy is actually a big softy and has an ironic sense of humour.

Hellboy has had two films made by Guillermo del Toro, Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, with Ron Perlman starring as the horned demon. A reboot is currently in the

Listen To A Track From Danny Elfman’s Justice League Score

Even though Junkie Xl is a fantastic composer in his own right, I’m reasonably certain that not many fans were up in arms when Danny Elfman was announced as being his replacement as composer on Justice League a few months back. After all, Elfman was responsible for the music heard in Batman and Batman Returns, both of which remain two of the best superhero soundtracks to this day, at least in my opinion. But, if you need a little more assurance, know that his resume also includes heavy hitters in the genre such as Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Hulk and Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Still, there may be some of you out there that need more convincing, so it’s quite fortunate that a sample of the film’s score has now found its way online. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we’re able to listen to the third track,

Guillermo del Toro Shares His Thoughts On The Hellboy Reboot

There were lots of conflicting feelings going around when it was announced earlier in the year that we were getting a new Hellboy movie. On the one hand, it had to be a good thing that Big Red was returning to the silver screen for the first time in a decade. On the other, it was to be a reboot of the franchise, and not the long-fabled closer to the should-have-been trilogy starring Ron Perlman.

With the Sons of Anarchy actor as his lead, director Guillermo del Toro helmed both 2004’s Hellboy and 2008’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army, but his plans to make a third outing were consistently curtailed thanks to problems with funding. In the end, Lionsgate decided to pursue the project without him and now, 2018’s Hellboy will instead be directed by Neil Marshall with Stranger ThingsDavid Harbour in the title role.

In some ways, it

Ron Perlman Says He’s Made Peace With The Hellboy Reboot

The announcement of the Hellboy reboot must have been a bitter pill for Ron Perlman to swallow. He’s never missed an opportunity to say how much he loved playing the character and from all accounts, is a genuine fan of Mike Mignola’s comics.

Ever since the release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army, both he and director Guillermo del Toro have been campaigning for the chance to make the third and final entry in their story, which would have finally gotten to grips with the impending apocalypse and Big Red’s involvement in it. With this reboot, however, those plans have gone from ‘probably not going to happen’ to just ‘not going to happen.’

Rubbing further salt into the wounds is the general consensus that Perlman was perfect in the part, with his gravellier than gravel voice and ability to emote through pounds of crimson latex defining who

Ron Perlman Shuts Down ‘Hellboy’ Reboot Questions During Reddit AMA Session
Ask Ron Perlman anything — except, apparently, questions about the upcoming “Hellboy” reboot. Perlman, who played the titular demonic hero in 2004’s “Hellboy” and its 2008 sequel, “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” fielded questions during a Reddit AMA session on Wednesday — but the topic of the reboot was something he chose to punt on. “Ok muthaf–kas, I’m back! This is my 3rd AMA- let’s make this one for the books,” Perlman wrote in the kickoff to the session. “I’ve got a lot of sh– to talk and a lot of sh– to talk about. I bet you have some Qs.

Mark Hamill and Lena Headey join Guillermo Del Toro's Trollhunters season 2

Ron Perlman might not be making anymore Hellboy movies, but director Guillermo Del Toro did spin out one of that truncated franchise’s most captivating scenes into its own book and TV series. Netflix’s Trollhunters looks largely inspired by the troll market scene in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, a foundation that has…

Neil Marshall’s ‘Hellboy’ Reboot Gets A First-Look Image

Neil Marshall’s forthcoming Hellboy movie has a first-look image. The film, which is about to start production this very month, was said to have been set to open in cinemas in the United States and Canada on January 11th 2019, about sixteen months from now – that news has since been updated by Lionsgate who state that the film does not currently have a release-date set.

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is co-writing the new movie, which will be directed by frequent Game Of Thrones helmer Marshall, who is also responsible for the likes of The Descent, Dog Soldiers, amongst many others.

The project was originally called Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, but Lionsgate, who are backing the film, have reduced the title to Hellboy, which we kind of prefer.

The Blood Queen of the former title is the villain of the piece, and will be played in the film by Milla Jovovich.

Hellboy Reboot Adds American Honey Star Sasha Lane

Hellboy Reboot Adds American Honey Star Sasha Lane
Just one day after a report surfaced claiming the new Hellboy reboot will feature the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) and comic book characters such as Abe Sapien, Alice Monaghan and Ben Daimio, the Alice character has been cast. Sasha Lane, the 21-year-old actress who made her breakthrough feature film debut with last year's American Honey, is in final negotiations to play Alice Monaghan, who in the original Mike Mignola comics was a love interest for Hellboy (David Harbour). It isn't clear at this time how many more major characters have yet to be cast, but this diverse ensemble is coming together quite quickly.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news on this casting earlier today, while also confirming a report from May that the Hellboy reboot starts filming in September. While it isn't clear who will play Abe Sapien or Ben Daimio quite yet, Sasha Lane

Hellboy Creator Says Reboot Is “Much Darker” Than Previous Films

After being absent from cinemas for nearly a decade, it’s thrilling to hear that Hellboy will be making his triumphant return before long, albeit in the form of a reboot. Not only that, but we recently received confirmation that none other than Milla Jovovich has been cast as the main villain, joining David Harbour, the actor who has been recast in the title role.

But as cool as the first two films starring Ron Perlman were, diehard fans of the comic books voiced some complaints, hoping that future offerings would be more in line with the source material. Admittedly, the first flick to debut in 2004 was probably closer to Mike Mignola’s work, but it’s important to remember that it arrived slightly before what we’ve come to call “the Golden Age of Superhero Movies” actually kicked off, with Hollywood having been known to have taken generous creative liberties at that time.

‘Hellboy’ Reboot Is Now Just Called ‘Hellboy’

In 2004, we got Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy and in 2008 we got the sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army. With the DVD market drying up, there wasn’t the funding for Hellboy III, but a reboot was put into production under the title Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. All of this was fine. Neil Marshall (The Descent) was directing, David Harbour was on board as Hellboy, Ian McShane was his father figure Professor Broom, and Milla Jovovich was cast at the film’s villainous and eponymous Blood Queen. While she’ll remain villainous, she’s no longer …

Hellboy Title Confirmed, Will Completely Reboot Original Movie

Hellboy Title Confirmed, Will Completely Reboot Original Movie
Yesterday, we reported that Milla Jovovich was in final talks to play The Blood Queen in Lionsgate's Hellboy reboot, which makes sense since the project was reportedly being called Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. While the casting news was apparently accurate, news of the subtitle was not, since a Lionsgate rep reached out to us this afternoon, confirming the project will only be known as Hellboy. Here's what the rep had to say in a brief statement.

"The official title is just Hellboy. The film is considered a reboot of the 2004 Hellboy, and is going by the same name."

The Lionsgate rep didn't add any additional details about the project, and while the title may not be Rise of the Blood Queen, that certainly doesn't nullify Milla Jovovich's casting as this character. What is less clear at this point is if The Blood Queen is the same character

Hellboy adds Resident Evil’s Milla Jovovich as villain the Blood Queen

After years of portraying the heroic Alice in the Resident Evil franchise, Milla Jovovich will finally take a turn toward the dark side for Hellboy (formerly titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen). Deadline reports that the actress is in final negotiations to join the franchise reboot as the film’s villain, the Blood Queen.

The film marks Jovovich’s first major franchise role since the long-running Resident Evil franchise churned out its last installment earlier this year. Beyond parts in Rob Reiner’s Shock and Awe and James Franco and Bruce Thierry Cheung’s Future World, many had been speculating where the actress would pop up next.

In the comics, the Queen of Blood goes by several names, including Nimue and the Lady of the Lake, and is one of Hellboy’s fiercest archenemies. The British witch gained her knowledge of sorcery from Merlin, who she eventually betrayed, and
