Forensic psychiatrist and college professor, Dr Jack Gramm, played by Al Pacino, is given 88 minutes to solve a murder before he himself becomes a victim.

It is revealed that Lauren started doing a bunch of copy-cat murders to make Forster look innocent and Gramm guilty. At the end, Lauren is shot down by Agent Parks and falls to her death. Gramm saves Kim and Carol from being killed, and he's cleared of being a suspect. The film ends with professor Gramm talking to his class, telling them that Forster was killed via lethal injection.
