Every week, editors Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

Please tell me Castle and Beckett will still be in a good place when the show returns in January? —Anna

Adam: They'll be in a good place, but maybe not for long. When a dead woman ends up in the mayor's car, Beckett will find herself afraid of pursuing the most obvious suspect. "The stakes are enormous," creator Andrew W. Marlowe tells us. "If something happens to the mayor, Castle is not going to be able to continue his partnership with Beckett. How do you deal with an investigation when you're compromised because of the way you feel?"

Desperate Housewives Midseason Report Card: B

20 December 2011 8:01 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

It's time for another TV Fanatic Report Card.

Before our writers take a break for the holidays, we've forced them to stop and evaluate many of the shows they cover. From handing out a B+ for Revenge to a B- for Supernatural, they're here to look back at what worked and ahead to what they hope will happen.

With that in mind, take it away, Christina Tran. Tell us how Desperate Housewives is faring halfway into it final season...

Desperate Housewives Winter Premiere Promo

Best Character: Chuck Vance has been an incredible addition to Fairview. It’s been easy to love to hate the creepy and sometimes scary detective. Ignited by a broken heart, Chuck’s definitely been the most interesting character and has kept me on the edge of my seat week in and week out. I’ve loved watching him try to solve Alejandro’s murder and making the ladies squirm. »

The Year in Television: The Biggest TV Stinkers of 2011

20 December 2011 7:23 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

This is the fifth in a multi-part series, The Year in Television 2011.

Tastes in television can of course be very subjective. One show may be your cup of tea, but not for the person sitting next to you. For instance, I love Louie, but my husband can’t stand it. I thought Torchwood: Miracle Day was a yawner, and yet the show seemed to have its vocal fans right here on AfterElton.

But where reasonable people can differ on any number of shows, the list below we can probably All agree on. These are the true TV stinkers of 2011. Now there probably were worse shows in 2011 than what appears on this list (H8R for instance), but all the projects appearing below added insult to injury: they might actually have been good. Our list includes the new shows that totally botched a decent concept... or squandered a good cast. And »

What the Hell was ABC Thinking When it Greenlit "Work It"?

19 December 2011 9:46 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Quick: Name the most Lgbt-friendly TV network.

ABC, right? Easy question, easy answer. ABC has given us loving lesbian and gay families in Callie and Arizona on Grey's Anatomy and Cam and Mitchell on Modern Family. It has given us hilarious, well-rounded gay men on Happy Endings and Desperate Housewives. It has given us complicated recurring lesbian characters on Private Practice. And it has been at the forefront of transgender inclusivity with Ugly Betty and Dancing With the Stars. In fact, 50 percent of ABC's original programming includes positive representations of Lgbt characters. Then why, oh why, are they planning to give a home to the wildly offensive sitcom Work It this January?

Unfamiliar with Work It? Lucky you! But allow me to enlighten you: When two straight male characters are fired from their jobs as car salesman, they decide to pose as women to land careers in the pharmaceutical industry. »

Gary Cole joins 'Hart of Dixie' as Rachel Bilson's dad. Kind of. It's complicated.

17 December 2011 11:16 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

When we first met Rachel Bilson's character, Zoe Hart, in the "Hart of Dixie" pilot, her daddy issues were immediately apparent -- and that was even before she found out that her real father was dead, and the man she'd called "Dad" all her life had known for years that she wasn't biologically his.

Ouch.

When "Hart of Dixie" returns this spring, we'll delve even deeper into that emotional swampland. Gary Cole will join the show in a multi-episode arc, playing Zoe's dad, the hotshot surgeon she's tried all her life to impress. Cole, of course, is a highly recognizable TV actor, having appeared in memorable roles on "Desperate Housewives," "Entourage," and "The Good Wife." TVLine first reported the news.

Weigh in, "Dixie" fans! Will Zoe keep trying to win her dad's approval, or is she a changed woman? What do you think he'll think of Bluebell? More importantly, »

Moses Added to The Killing

Mark Moses is no stranger to drama after hanging around with the ladies of Wisteria Lane on Desperate Housewives but he’ll soon get to be on the right side of the law when he guest stars on AMC’s The Killing.

Moses, who plays Paul Young on Desperate Housewives, is returning to AMC for at least eight episodes of a major story arc in Season 2 of The Killing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He’ll play Lt. Carlson, a detective assigned to investigate Rosie’s death when he joins the Seattle police department. While there’s no official word on it at the moment, the mention of appearing in “at least” eight episodes hints that Carlson could be hanging around Seattle for even longer as a recurring character. Currently, Moses is wrapping up the final season of ABC’s Housewives and he’ll also »

Viewers turn away from foreign content in 2011: survey

13 December 2011 2:42 PM, PST | IF.com.au | See recent IF.com.au news »

Foreign content produced some of the biggest TV ratings share losers in 2011, according to a new analysis by Deutsche Bank. Major Us shows to post sharp audience declines in 2011 included Seven's Desperate Housewives and Greys Anatomy, Nine's Two and a Half Men and CSI, and Ten's NCIS and Glee. "Key overseas shows across all three networks were down in the range of 11 per cent.to 36 per cent.in 2011," Deustche Bank analysts said in the report. "This indicates that content agreements with Us production houses may have less impact on ratings share in the future." Nonetheless, several Australian-produced shows also showed double-digit ratings declines in 2011, including MasterChef (down 20 per cent),.Junior MasterChef (down 42 per cent), »

'The Killing' adds Mark Moses to Rosie Larsen's investigation

There's a new detective on the Rosie Larsen case.

Mark Moses ("Mad Men," "Desperate Housewives") has joined the cast of "The Killing" in a big recurring role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He's set to appear in at least eight episodes of the AMC show's second season.

He will play Lt. Carlson, a newcomer to the Seattle Pd who joins the not-yet-closed Larsen investigation. Presumably he'll work alongside, or perhaps butt heads with, Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos), last seen sitting on a plane to California with a shocked look on her face as she realized Holder (Joel Kinnaman) had manipulated the case to frame mayoral candidate Darren Richmond (Billy Campbell).

"The Killing" will also open a new investigation in Season 2 -- and we're kind of hoping Moses' character is involved with that too. Because if it takes eight more episodes to find out who killed Rosie, fans already frustrated by »

Mark Moses to Play Key Role on The Killing

No, he didn't kill Rosie Larson.

But veteran actor Mark Moses (Mad Men, Desperate Housewives, next Monday's new episode of The Closer) will play an integral role on season two of The Killing, The Hollywood Reporter states, coming on board as a new detective assigned to the main case.

Moses' Lt. Carlson will appear in a minimum of eight season two episodes.

The Killing concluded a mostly well-reviewed first season in controversial manner, with Detective Linden flying California join her fiancé... only to learn that her partner fabricated evidence in their investigation. The identity of Rosie's murderer also remained a secret, much to the chagrin of viewers. »

‘The Killing’ Recruits Mark Moses for Season 2

12 December 2011 11:49 PM, PST | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

Mark Moses has joined the hunt for Rosie Larson’s killer. The veteran actor who has graced series like Mad Men, Boston Legal and Desperate Housewives has joined AMC’s drama The Killing for its second season playing a detective hunting the murdered teenager. Will having another person on the search bring it to a close sooner than expected? Not necessarily. The actor has signed on for eight episodes. Though it’s reasonable that he’ll be around after the killer is found, I don’t think anyone who watched the first season believes the writers will bring about a conclusion early in the season. The first season was widely expected to end with the killer being found, but showrunner Veena Sud had other plans. Moses, who recently appears in an episode of USA Network’s Covert Affairs, will also guest for one episode on the network’s second season of Fairly Legal, »
